I wanted a PS3 because of BR, HD, and the fact that it's not MS. Cry all you want about adaptive generation and compression, but you're going to use up precious processing cycles doing this when you have a perfectly legitimate disc format that can fit all the content you want for today's software and tomorrow's. With whose two technologies, your trading load times for uncompression or generation times. IMHO, MS failed when they didn't put HDDVD or BluRay in the 360. As far as HD, I wanted a game console to go with my HD TV. I wanted something that was going to show me what my TV could do. The Wii was not an option here. Continue believing that people are sheep and you too become a sheep. Read the facts, look at the data. Gaming is getting bigger. Games today take up way more space than they did before (even last year) and HD TVs WILL be replacing your standard definition sets. The US Government, for one, has put aside "coupon" money to grant people that have to replace their old SD sets when SD broadcasts stop in the next few years. The only "hype" I see is all the people buying into the Wii. It's bandwagon mentality at it's best. It's selling to a vast number of gamers looking at it's low cost and expecting the console to take off simply because it has quantity over quality. Yes, I've played it, and I hated it. The visuals were all distorted and crappy on my 52" TV. The animations were cartoony and corny. The games are nothing more than "mini" and simple. There were no vast worlds to explore, besides Zelda, and even then I was terribly unimpressed by the linearity, no camera control and several other things I'm not even going to get into as it's not on topic. For me, the PS3 is the only platform that meets my needs. It had nothing to do with Sony hype. |
Well that was completely off-topic lol
