They would NOT use the MP3 compression codec as there are better ones out there, and your unsupported speculation on the cutscene resolution doesn't further any discussion at all.

 

 

 

I know, I was using the massive drops as examples of what they are trying to do. Plus at least my 3 disc prediction is much nicer then 4+ discs.

FYI - 2 hours of 720p Video on a modern codec assuming full CPU resources ala fullscreen CGI effects can be compressed losslessly to 2gb. Damned if I can remember where I saw that, but its a source im 80% sure is correct. I think it was made in referrence to this game actually.

 

 

I'd certainly love to know what this magical codec is.

Best I've seen is 2.14gigs for a 1 hour 45 minute 720p video. Thats with 24fps. So the game video I imagine will run at 25 or 30. So that's more information. Lossless it is not. It's good, but there is visible quality loss.
