Yes and no. When they are divided they're seems like there's impact.
What if one console had gotten GTA4, MGS4, FFXIII, CoD.
What if both Xbox and PS2 had GTA3, MGS2, Final Fantasy X and XII, Kingdom Hearts, Dragon Quest VIII, Guitar Hero 1, Ace Combat, Ridge Racer, Devil May Cry, Karaoke Revolution 1, Time Crisis 2-3, and Tekken Tag-5 all at the same time?
You can't tell me nothing would have changed last gen.
I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.
