Anyone who has been following Mirror's Edge knows the premise. You play as Faith, a "runner" in a fictitious city who is tasked with delivering vital information from point A to point B as a way of making some dough. At least that's until her sister is accused of a murder she didn't commit by their megalomaniacal regime of a government. The real kick to Mirror's isn't its storyline, at least not yet (EA and DICE are very tight lipped about the plot), it's how players make their way through Faith's world.

Mirror's Edge has a ridiculously complex set of moves that can be pulled off throughout the game but every one can be done by using the left stick in conjunction with three shoulder buttons. Jumping is done with the left shoulder button, ducking is done with the left trigger, and doing a 180-degree spin is done with the right shoulder button. So if you want to run up a wall, push off of it, spin around and grab onto a ladder all you need to do is trot up, hit the left shoulder button, hit the right shoulder button, then hit the left shoulder button again. It's that easy.

What you see on screen also enhances the feeling that you just pulled off something pretty damn cool. Mirror's Edge does a great job, even in its early state, at delivering a feeling of momentum as you move through the environment. The edges of the screen blur, her footsteps hasten and get louder, and the wind builds as you start to move faster. But that's just when you're still on the ground.

Leaping into the air yields even more motion blur, her feet kick and her arms reach out for something to grab onto when she reaches her destination. The real kicker is that all of the acrobatics that Faith can perform are unlocked from the word "go" it's just up to you to discover ways to use them. There are tutorials throughout that will introduce you to new move possibilities, but there are no unlocks or attribute boosts at any time.
