Microsoft has revealed just how much of a headstart Xbox 360 owners will have with the new downloadable content for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

"We have a 30-day timed exclusive on the Modern Warfare content packs," a spokesperson told Eurogamer. "So it will be available on other platforms, but you get to try and play on Xbox 360 first."

The exclusivity deal was first announced at E3 last year. Back then John Schappert said it covered the first two map packs for Mod War 2.

The DLC is due to be released this spring but an exact date has yet to be locked down.

==> huh ... only ? what is the point ?

Time to Work !

The point is a CoD fanboy will buy a 360 during those 30 days before he would buy a PS3 because 360 has exclusive maps..

But its just plain stupid IMO.

I will scream if there is another karachi/rundown/quarry type of map in there. I also dislike Invasion veeeeeeeeeeery much

Most yes but CoD keeps on gaining fans, for instance a friend of mine might buy a ps3 or 360 just for MW2. He loves it that much....

Kind of funny. But it does make some sense. When the DLC was originally positioned it was simply announced as 360 exclusive for an unknown period of time, and made for some nice additional marketing next to the big MW2 bundles for 360 in US and elsewhere.

Now that the reality would appear to be irrelevant doesn't matter. I image MS simply wanted the perception that 360 had the bundles, timed DLC and was the place to play MW2 online during November and December.

I wonder though, if true would this be the shortest period of exclusivity ever? I'd love to know how much (assuming any) money was paid to secure this

I do loathe this whole timed DLC nonsense though.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

This is why I dislike Microsoft IMHO they seem to buy their way into the industry. No doubt there is money involved here, each move Microsoft  strengthens my resolve my to Sony.

They bought the exclusive rights to advertise it like they did.... and it worked out. Well done MS.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...
