Forums - Sony Discussion - Gran Turismo 5 Delayed

Via a Sony press release, Gran Turismo 5 has been delayed. The release states that due to development issues, the March date for Japan will no longer be able to be met. The new date is “indefinitely” with an announcement to be “coming soon.” Rather or not this has anything to do with the NA release date has yet to be determined.

GT Forever edition?

meh. march was too soon anyway. japanese consumers are still going to be reeling from expenses in the holiday season.

and there are too many high profile games coming out on march as well. i guess this was expected.

I am simply not surprised anymore.

Oh geez.  I hope they haven't decided to make it a holiday title or some bullshit.  The game needs to come out.  Don't they realize how bad all these delays are making them look?

Of course, a delay in Japan doesn't necessarily mean a delay in the West.  The Western release was targeted for Summer for marketing reasons, most likely to avoid the deluge of new releases in Q1/2 (including Sony's own God of War, dropping the week of GT5's original Japanese release date).  It's possible the game has been delayed til Summer for Japan, and they'll simply do a worldwide release then, much like they did a worldwide release for GT PSP.

Well Polyphony...

Let's try to get it out THIS DECADE.

XD

Bet with Dr.A.Peter.Nintendo that Super Mario Galaxy 2 won't sell 15 million copies up to six months after it's release, the winner will get Avatar control for a week and signature control for a month.

I absolutely expect this game to be Sony's main Holiday release in November for NA.

There is an outside chance it will hit in summer, but I think Sony needs GT to counter any momentum Microsoft will be bringing this Christmas.

̶3̶R̶D̶   2ND! Place has never been so sweet.

Probably to separate it from God of War 3. Sony probably figured they'd do better (since they wouldn't be "stepping on the toes" of another first-party game) if they separated the two games rather than release them in the same month.

Still sucks though. :(
