i personally use a 37inch HDTV but have played on a PS3 at my mates on an SD tv and still looks good. Even blu ray films still look good!
feel free to ad me as your first PSN friend mate : bedhead1

defo pick up :
Uncharted 2
LittleBigPlanet
and Killzone 2, won multiplayer of the year over MW2...its very good and addictive lol.

I've been using an SDTV, smaller than yours mind you, for the past year with my PS3. While it would be much better looking on an HDTV, it looks perfectly fine and is just as enjoyable on a SDTV.

I got my PS3 about 10 days before I got my HD baby. I would definitely say that you shouldn't be worried. Playing on an HDTV is nice, but Uncharted was JAW-DROPPING on our 10 y/o Sony flatscreen.

Don't feel rushed either, as buying an HDTV is quite troublesome. Check out http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=96334&page=1 to see what I mean.

Hope this helps.

Thanks , i feel so relief  now . :P

alot of text will hurt your eyes =[ i had SDTV for too long and its really annoying to play.
but Modern Warfare looks good on SDTV because its not high res enough.

I live for the sword, the steel, and the gun...

The graphics in games still look good, I've also notice that game that don't have AA seem to benefit on SDtv....mainly cuz the console still renders a HD image and then downscales it to SD but in doing so it give an affect like AA, so in some cases games look more jaggie on a HDTV than an SD.

The only real concern is the text, some games the text doesn't scale and it's hard to read, you also lose some peripheral vision, and the screen may some times feel a little cluttered, well that's if you go from HDtv to SD like I do some times, apart from that its all cool.

Enjoy man.

I have a HD tv in the sitting room and a SD tv in my room so basicly I always try to play on the HD but I will only get about 2 hours max before some1 wants to watch something so then I will try not to but end up playing in my room :P .

I personally think there is a big difference but the good thing is that whenever I go from my room to the HD tv I always get amazed at the graphics, it’s like it got an upgrade and I get a re-falling in love feeling xD .

Oh I forgot to mention the text.

When I played Killzone2 on the SDTV I could hardly read it because it was SO small. That's my only real gripe, and Killzone2 was by far the worst.

EDIT: Oh, and I JUST got my eyes lasered, so I couldn't see fine detail well anyway. All in all, not such a big problem.

While HDTVs obviously look crisper, brighter and bring out more definition than the SDTVs (that's the point), games on the 360 and PS3 still look good on an SDTV (because they just look good period).

I guess what I'm saying is, just because you play a PS3 or XBOX360 game on a SDTV, it isn't going to look like a last gen game or anything. But of course you'll still be pinning for that HDTV someday.
