First off: I'm a huge Metroid fan. I love the series' atmosphere and exploration-based gameplay.

I heard Shadow Complex is like a modern-day Super Metroid. Super Metroid is one of my favorite games of all time. So I downloaded the demo, and while the gameplay was pretty good, I though the story, dialogue and characters were extremely cheesy (not in a good way).

Besides some superficial elements like controls and level layout, I don't see much similarities with Super Metroid. The game is available at a discount now, so I'll get it now or never.

Can anyone tell me why I, a Super Metroid fan, need to get Shadow Complex?

You could not be a Super Metroid fan and I would recommend it. It's one of the best games of the year.

Yeah, the story, dialogue and characters are extremely cheesy, much like Chair Entertainment's last game, Undertow. But it doesn't really get in the way too much, and every other part of the game is amazing. Would definitely recommend it.

I didn't really care for the game. I really see no reason that someone that has played the Metroids would need to buy it

Supporting good 2D games (on a console) is worth the money.

I really liked Shadow Complex. I agree that the story isn't anything special, but the power-ups, exploration, action and overall gameplay is pretty good.
