Forums - Nintendo Discussion - These weeks have been awesome for 17+ wii games

The last few weeks ive been somewhat aggressive with my gaming budget for a reason(Reflex-DS Chronicles), but for all the hate out there for ports(for some people), or the on rail genre(for some others), ive been pretty damm busy with the wii and it looks like it might stay like that for a while.Im not saying i dont appreciate LKS or Muramasa, by any means. But sometimes, for moments, i feel like firing guns, getting headshots, seeing good old blood splatter and owning in worldwide matches. And these weeks are providing.Big time.

Earlier this year i made quite some purchases on the line of Madworld, Punch Out! and Tenchu, Dead Space among others. And those were great but spaced.

But I think these last few weeks have been quite tight with quality for my tastes(well im not alone, reviewers have mostly been on this side).
Reflex and Darkside both turned excellent long lasting purchases.

As shooters go , MW did bring in the end the most solid online package to date on the wii. The online matchmaking is good(rarely getting yellows in a full day of gaming ), the host migration works, the full modes are included and 16 maps are there, the guns and all perks in, and the graphics took a big boost in comparison to the past version. It was a slap in the face of my humble conduit (with its poor netcoding-crippling glitch and meager map selection-poor framerate-and outdated game modes) and even my respected WAW with its 17days of gameplay online invested(yes i reached final prestige on it).Yes, is a late port.Is still a friggin fantastic experience.

Darkside Chronicles also suprised me.Aside of minor camera discomfort(that only bothers me while collecting unlockables), the campaign was lenghty enough, and the raw amount of unlockables and upgrades is making the game come back for more. The online scoring puts it a step ahead of UC and well, the graphics are unreal good for wii.Yes is an onrail shooter. And is fun and addictive. And it has Claire.

And now Im hoping this streak continues this 12th, with Silent Hill. Honeycoming was a downer, but, Im just hoping this team these guys get their act together and hook me even further.

So as of late, im grateful with the quality of content on my motion sensing entertaintment system.I hope it keeps up.

I don't see why people hate on-rails that much, HOTD : OK was epic for a on rails and DSE was superb aswell.

Because i like my shooters to require some skills and have exploration element, rail shooters have neither.

HOTD: OK is a mediocre game, you can beat the entire thing in 1 hour and there is no reason to ever play it again...i guess it could be worth renting with a friend.

House of dead: overkill is a good game, We know it's not perfect but it's a super fun game.

Saludos!!

I don't think people hate on rails. They hate the fact that RE went on rails on Wii when RE4 worked very well.

Like to me I found HOD:OK to be funny as hell and enjoyable. It was liek watching an old B grade movie so cheasy.

RE games are designed for you to solve puzzles and walk around not be guided.

it didnt "went" on rails.there were 2 previous on railed shooters of Resident evil before the wii(even on Nintendo 64) .Also your formula isnt very true, as Resident survivor is about running and killing zombies, not solving puzzles.Resident evil has,way before the wii ,used for many tipes of games. And it worked apparently, otherwise, capcom wouldnt keep going those routes, dont you think? If dead aim had tanked, there wouldnt be UC on the wii.
i personally think that Capcom isnt joking when they speak of brining RE5 to wii using Cavia engine. House of the dead OK is fun, i agree, just too damm short opposed to DC and looks much weaker visually in almost every way.

Loses credibility.
