Forums - General Discussion - Huckabee granted clemency to cop killer

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/11/29/multiple-police-officers-_n_373119.html

PARKLAND, Wash. (AP/HuffPost)— A convicted felon granted clemency nine years ago by former Arkansas Governor and 2008 presidential candidate Mike Huckabee, is wanted for questioning in the shooting deaths of four police officers in Washington state.

Well now that Huck has his Horton moment his chances at the GOP nomination are over, since He and Plain were each appealing to similar groups and Huck was the frontrunner, guess that means Palin will likely get the 2012 GOP nod now

No, Romney is the nominee. Don't forget that Pawlenty and Thune will also likely run as well. Jan 2011 is when people really need to pay attn. I would also look at a more liberal Dem primary challenge to Obama as well. Hillary anyone?

Huckabee never had a chance. Romney does not have a chance and Palin (hopefully for the Republican party) doesn't have a chance. I've no doubt we'll see some respectable and worthy candidates take the field in 2012, but it won't be any of these clowns.

Ok, Huckabee isn't really a clown, but a brutally honest libertarian ideologue will never get past being the Republican Dennis Kucinitch.

EDIT: Oops. I was thinking of Ron Paul. Though I still don't see Huckabee winning the primaries.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

Huckabee was in favor of a Flat tax if i remember correctly. Or something similar.

That gives him a very low ceiling for real votes.

Even with Chuck Norris.

Romney doesn't have the appeal in the GOP, nor does Pawlenty or Thune in fact most in the GOP don't know much about he latter two, Romney's big faults is he's Mormon and he's not seen as a friend of the religious right and he's considered too elite for the rural voters.  He'd be good in the General, he'd still lose, but he'd do ok compared to others on the list, but he won't get the GOP nomination, he'd have to tack very far to the right, and that would only kill him in the general.

Take the field maybe, but not have a chance of winning the GOP nomination, remember, the GOP base looks for those who are more right wing, and who appeal to the religious and neocon wings of the party, and Palin is perfect for that group.

In addition, the GOP doesn't really have a very rich stable of contenders, Romney, Pawlenty, Palin, Jindal, Huckabee, and a few others, but really its a poor list.

Also, this is actually the second guy he got released who killed someone... Dumond or something?

Didn't hurt him the first time.

The question is... why. Which is hard to search out at this moment, but the guy seems completely unconnected. Perhaps he had a "good" reason with regard to how the trial was carried out or something, who knows.

Here is an interesting article on it.

It's either crazy favoritism... or a stance based on the prosecution being more likely to plea bargain with certain people.
