Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Forza 3 sales: Is it under-performing after its advantages over GT

Forza 3 is doing fine, but I think the realistic racing sim genre is dying...

After playing something like Burnout Paradise it is hard to play realistic racers for any length of time unless your a car enthusiast... Which there seems to be more of in Europe then North America or Japan.

I'm sure in a few months when GT5 is out it will kick Forza 3's sales in the butt... But, that is like comparing God of War III sales to Dante's Inferno... Same genre but we all know which one will sell more and that's because it is a very well known franchise that is synonomous with the PlayStation brand. Not necessarily because it is a better game.

Sales are great, they definately are not under performing.

Depends on what were you expecting.

Some here said F3 would be the premier sim of this gen, the biggest seler around 7 million.  But afer failing to out do GT5ps opening week they all dissapeared.

Compared to GT it is severly under performing, compared to all others its doing very well.

Compared to what most said it's not underperforming. There's already been an argument on here about taking what one person said and using that to lambast the rest. And how do you know it wont be the premier racer this gen? That's subjective.

High majority expected F3 to out do GT5ps first week and it failed thus it underperformed.

Its sales say its not the premier sim.

Sales never indictate quality. Gameplay does and that is subjective so it could be the premier sim this gen. It is at the moment.

And proof the high majority expected it to out do GT5p first week or you're making another one of those type of comments that caused an argument on here.

As long as it's true it's fine but proof first.

Also if they did expect it to beat GT5p first week and it didn't then it underperformed for them and only them. If you think it underperformed because of that then you must be one of them that expected it to beat GT5p sales.
The rest of us who have more common sense when it comes to how you decide whether a game underperforms or not don't think it did in sales or more importantly gameplay.

I still like GT5p physics a little better than FM3. As far as FM3 damage, it's harder noticeable (physics) which I'm thankful since at times AI rams me  as if I'm not there. Cars still act like tanks when it comes to damage. (Unlike Race 07/Race Pro where too much damage can kill your engine, transmission, etc.) To be fair some times I did see the AI make some smart moves to pass me.

Still I wonder if even GT5 will sale 10 million. Just how popular are car sims for  today's gaming market?

Your one of the most hypocritical fanboys ever to be on this site and you should have never been taken of the perma-ban list.

When PS3 exclusives sold poorly every Sony fan was proclaiming that sales don't equal quality, how quickly you tend to forget. Not to mention you don't even go over the fact that GT5p was sold at a discounted price, was heavily bundled and has a monster brand name as big as Halo.

So according to you Halo 3 is the better than any fps on PS3, GTA4 and GoW are better than Uncharted and MGS4, and Fable 2 is better than both Valkyrie Chronicles and Demons Souls. Or maybe you prefer to go by metacritic? Then I guess that means Forza 3 is far better than GT5p and GT4 both which failed to break 90 metacritic. If you still don't understand how stupid your sales comparison is then I don't think anyone can help you.

I don't even know why I bothered to type this up after all you think GT5 is going to sell 20 million life time

I don't know how old you are but the fact that you don't realize that the quality of a game is determined by a combination of review scores, sales and personal opinion and instead try to deem the quality of a title just by looking at sales numbers says a lot about you.

Like I said it was my theory as to way it didn't sale as well as it should have or on ones interested in racing sims anymore
