Forums - Sales Discussion - A Crack in Time is fastest-selling Ratchet game

R&C titles have never really been frontloaded that much, so far as I know. They simply sell well over an extended period, and generally rack up decent enough sales.

Between RFOM, R2 and the R&C releases Insomniac have seen very steady and nice income since PS3 launched, and their model is clearly built around more regular, lower cost releases vs spending years targeting a huge best seller.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Some interesting posts here. It really goes to show how much hatred there is for the PS3. Mods should seriously take care of newbie3 and Boneitis.

That being said, thats fantastic for the franchise.

I hate the people who are fanatical about NPD. They don't even track walmart sales properly. They also miss out on a lot of Canada. They are seriously a lackluster source. VGChartz is usually a much more reliable source of sales for a broadened area.

Ratchet and Clank is not a front loaded series. It sells consistantly, like Wii titles. The difference? NPD is not caring a lot about these games and they dont get tracked properly.

If Insomniac said 25 million, than it sold 25 million. Don't give me this bullshit okay? they are the developer of the game. It would be a huge issue if they blatantly lied about the sales of the game. Tax reports and issues with their publisher, Sony, would run rampart. This is a buisness, you simply cannot openly lie on a published piece of media like that, ESPECIALLY about sales and or other financial issues.

The Bargin bin crap is my favorite part. Have you ever been to a gamestop? Do you know what games fill the bargin bin? Halo 3, gears of war1 /2, fable 2, and a slew of other big name games, I'll just be pointing out the xbox 360 games to make you squeal.

I have never in my life seen a ratchet game in a bargin bin. Not even the ps2 games, not even now. They still sell for over 20$ a piece on the shelves if they make it there, which they usually dont because the games are so great and charming no one would ever bring them back.

Tools of Destruction was 55$ up until very recently, it dropped to 30$ in anticipation of A Crack in Time. The same price as gears 2.

So don't give me that bullshit about bargin bins. in any case, even if it was in the bargin bin, that loss of money is in the hands of the retailer, _not_ insomniac/sony. They sell the games at full price.

Congradulations! It really is a hit series. Just another core game that works on playstation, a great platformer that you cannot get anywhere else.

VGC shows this aswell. But VGC also shows that it is about to fall behind slightly after next week. Depending on what numbers a crack in time pulls off.

For some reason these games have always done terrible in the first two weeks or so then picked up after.

R&C games have always sold better in North America apart from Tools of destruction which did kind terrible for a ratchet game in he states but brilliant in Europe. I think the low PS3 userbase in NA held the franchise back on the PS3.

Now that the PS3 is selling better in North America where the franchise is most popular and its now more popular in europe then ever The is really no reason why this game cant do between 2-3 million. I would say closer to two though.

R&C simply isn't front loaded game. And probably a lot of people are waiting with buying them till they are price dropped.

The issue with that is that the price takes a long time to drop.

25 million over 8 games would translate to over 3 million a game.

This seems way too high.

Also coulda swore threre were more then 8 games.

Ah, counting the ports as 1 game... tricky  tricky.

A kid at my school is willing to trade anyone a xbox360 with a 20 gb hard drive and a few games for a ps3. The only game he wants to play is this one which i find interesting.
