Forums - Gaming Discussion - Will MAG be better than MW2 online?

MW2 online is great, but it's more of the same with some updates.  Overall, I'm underwhelmed.  MAG has potential to be awesome, but with so many online players at once, it could be somewhat of a disorganized clusterf*ck....

Logic says no. But the game isn't even out yet.

why logic?? their al fps and MAG has something uniqe... ass mw2 is just a generic 8 vs 8 fps that where of last gen.. MAG is an REAL open warfare fps with 128 vs 128

I'm looking forward to MAG. Though, I know I'll get killed in the first few minutes with 128 people shooting at me. But hey, I would to see what being in the middle of that choas would look like. Even if it's only for 60 sec.

I'm in the beta and I wouldn't really call MAG all that "unique". The way I feel about it is MW with more people, larger maps, and the killstreaks are limited to the leaders of your team. The majority of the game is a clusterfuck with no one really trying to get objectives, but those games that actually have people working together is really fun.

the game is not for everyone, it might feel overwhelming at the beginning and there's definately gonna be lot of idiots playing who like TKing and hindering your teams success like in every other FPS.

but the moment you happen to join a clan-squad or play with friends it's great fun and a rewarding experience.

I'm in the beta and I've played games where no one knew what to do and just kept on getting killed and in games where I barely got to do anything because everyone did their jobs great. In the final retail version of the game I understood that you are supposed to play a 15-30 minutes long tutorial training game before you are allowed to join the other modes, this is a good thing for preparing the newbs for those 256 players matches.

I think it's one of the easiest FPS games I have ever played. Good controls, simple gameplay (attack point A, hold point B, etc. You only need to do your squads objective), no noticeable lag problems so people don't "sponge" the bullets and just keep on going.

Other squads success can really either increase or decrease your burden, for example if some other squad succeeds to destroy the enemy's anti-air turrets your squad might get easy paratroop or helicopter entry right in the middle of their base.

one thing the game should get is a kick option to kick players from other squads...I've been tk'ed by other teams squads members a few times and there's nothing I can do about it since you can only kick players from your own squad so there could possibly even be a full 8 man tk:ing squad in a game...

Overall MAG is easily better than MW2 or any other fps-game coming to the consoles, IMO.

I'm in the beta right now for MAG and it is nowhere near as good as modern warfare. You can't even tell you are in a map with 256 people. It is too spread out, objectives are too simple. Gameplay doesn't really innovate anything.

It will be a good game, don't get me wrong, but it isn't in the same league as MW2.

Probably not as a whole.

My problem with M.A.G is

A) I'm not sure it will have an offline story mode Correct me if I'm wrong but I haven't heard that it will

B) Will their be enough people online 24/7 to really give us teams of 128 vs 128 or will their only be a couple dozen players online at a time, never actually utalizing its true potential!

Will M.A.G online beat ModernWarfare2 online, maybe if M.A.G can do it right, but if their aren't huge numbers of players 24/7 then I'm not sure how well it will work!

I don't understand... Do you have to be able to tell that you are in a map with 256 people for it to have effect on the game? No, not really. Even though you can't see them, things still happen. Maybe objectives are a bit simple in MAG, but MW doesn't even have objectives besides the MP mode, so how can it be better than MAG in this department? MAG gameplay doesn't really innovate anything, ok maybe not. Still in your eyes, a rushed and milked FPS with run and gun gameplay for every noob to master, with almost no skill involved what so ever, showing NO INNOVATION AT ALL and actually taking several steps backwards compared to old FPSs in both gameplay and features (like dedi servers) is the better game.... I'm baffled

I am in the MAG beta as well, and I rarely do play. However, in my mind there is no question which is the better game. Popularity and sales does not necessarily make a good game or product. If it did, McDonalds would be considered the best food on the market, Backstreet Boys would be considered as great musicians or the newest Indiana Jones movie would be considered good. neither of these products can be considered as quality, yet they sell (sold) like crazy
