Forums - Gaming Discussion - Switching Games is too Time Consuming

God help you if your remote for your TV breaks

Around the Network

I'll admit booting up a game is a little bit of a burden due to load times. Putting the disc in doesn't bother me so much.

But I do enjoy not having to search for a disc when I play a XBLA game.

I agree with this. On the N64, if i were playing Mario 64 and wanted to switch to Smash Bros, i could have the game off, out of the slot, and back on it's shelf in seconds, and then in another 45 seconds or so be playing a round of Smash Bros. Now if i did the same thing with Galaxy and Brawl, it takes longer to shut the system off (or retreat to the Wii menu), takes a few more seconds to eject the disc, you have to put it back in it's box, get the other disc, load it, wait for it to load so that you can select it off the menu, then after initialization, wait for it to load so you can actually play the damn thing

Most of that is intrinsic to cartridges vs discs, though. I'll grant that.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

It dosent take that long, unless your playing PC games

I agree, though my laziness is the main reason I don't change games very frequently. Normally, I get around this by playing 1 game on PS3 and 1 on 360 and maybe some PSN/XBLA games, but at the moment, I am only playing FIFA 10 (PS3) and Uncharted 2, which is a little bit of a pain...

You are right, it shouldn't take about 5 minutes to load up a match on FIFA 10, I would love an option to completely install a game, especially as I have a 320GB HDD waiting to be put in the console...
