Forums - Sony Discussion - How much is PSN worth to you?

how is it any better than free pc / free psn? It doesn't make the game any better at all. Remember, everything you do in game on XBL is controlled by your own internet connection and the connection other players have. You are paying for the right to use your own connection, and play a game you already paid for.

I'm not arguing your point, I would rather pay nothing for XBL, But  Idon't like you calling people who pay for the service, a fool. And that is why I made my comment. While I don't like paying for XBL  Ido so because it offers so many great features that I could not get on my xbox without it. Anyway. Please do not bring up XBL or the Wii online service (it's name escapes me) as that will only cause problems. I am just curious as to how much PSN is worth to you.

I had to give a reason though, saying its worth nothing to me will make people think I value xbl more.

Clearly its worth it because millions pay for it right? Im not starting a fight, I just say that it is foolish, you just dont have any other choice if thats the console you want to use.

$20-30. That's about as much as I'd pay. I'm sure an awesome online title or party chat could raise that price.

i think its worth about £15 per year, i could cope with that, still it is like everyone said, paying for internet service on a console is one of the biggest scams ever, and if they do charge it should be based on the features given, do you really think that cross chat gaming / matchmaking are worth 50 bucks? there is no doubt in my mind that ms laughs at every single person who falls for this, because you do have the choice to be a silver member(free membership) and you can still play online, so why on earth do people pay for the gold service???

it's the future of handheld

If it were mandatory to pay for online play, I'd do my online gaming on PC only. Out of principle.

This.

I don't think they would, All you would have had to say is that you would not pay for PSN and that you would use steam for gaming or something to that effect. calling people who pay for a service "fools" is hardly a good way to go about it. Heck, I pay for the service (although, if they ever raise the price I am done). Anyway. I get what you are saying, and hopefully others do to coughGarnett/slimebeastcough lol. In al seriousness though, if the PS3 was the only console I owned, and there were games that I wanted to play online, I suppose I would probably say $40.00 would be a fair price. But like I said, I havn't had the chance to use the service, so I wouldn't know.

I'd never pay any fee for PSN, I'm already sick of my internet bill getting jacked up every second they get. I haven't actually played a game online on the ps3 since the first couple months Warhawk was out when I was addicted to that. So it's no real loss if they will cut me out, although It would make me sad because free online play was my biggest deciding factor of getting the PS3.

PSN: HobsonA

XBL: HobsonA

I agree with the people who refuse to pay for online play. If it's my connection, and my game, both of which I bought with my money, why should I pay to play a game that I already own? I just refuse to do it. Yeah, I may be missing out on some awesome action (I'd be sad if I couldn't play Warhawk), but I'm more of a co-op person and I have enough games with local co-op that I'd get along just fine. So really, free is the only price I'm willing to pay for any online service.

As much as I love PSN and playing Uncharted 2 online, I will not pay anything to play online.

That depends, because most PS3 games use dedicated servers.
