Ah how good to know then, it would have been a drag if it was though.

So....................... we are still on for 3 eh? nice.

It wasn't announced. Did you read the interview? One of the developers let it slip, he was just talking about how a feature would be improved in the second game.

Trust me, if it wasn't one of the unannounced games, then it would of been on Sony's TGS 09 list.

WTF Give us the first damn game before you give Japan the sequel!

The first one is not out yet

Meh. I was excited for the first long ago, but now I don't really care, and I care even less about a sequel that we won't see for at least two years after the first (which we won't see for another six months).

it absolutely will not be one of the hidden ones. It will be shown, however.

Sony will not blow their chance at taking nintendo out this year with something like WKC2.
The unnannounced games will be huge japanese titles, with an attempt on scoring >50% market share in japan for this year (which is still highly possible and more than likely going to happen with FF13.)

A GT5 release date, at least two BIG jrpgs (Big as in console pushing, 1m+ ltd japan only sales) are going to be announced. Infact, sony could even be pulling our legs with the 3, it might even be more.

What I'm saying is this, and the buzz in Japan is HUGE. my buddies and I were out to a bunch of local places around shibuya/tokyo today in anticipation and everyone is talking about TGS.

Sony's head title is something around the lines of "New Strategy for Success" (Im not very good at translating..) Everyone expects Sony to nail the coffin in the wii for the holiday season and secure solid 30k+ weekly sales throughout the rest of 2010 and spikes of upwards of another 150-200k weekly when FF13 releases.  I only just made an account but I'm a long time reader. While expectations are fairly low for FF13 you people seriously underestimate the power of a final fantasy. The only title in existance with so much power to push platforms and units in japan is Dragon Quest. Until the Wii has dragon quest x, the PS3 is king, mark my word. And with the Motion Controller being very similar, I would highly suspect a PS3 port of DQX as well.

Japanese gamers tend to be very careful with their cash. Unlike Americans the average japanese gamer is _incredibly picky_. Niche titles sell to certain people and certain people only, and games without big franchise names do not sell overwell. a game like demon soul's pushing about 200k units (VGC is significantly undertracked) Along with WKC are MASSIVE success stories for these games.

However, Final Fantasy 13 is a massive game. A game people have wanted for a long long time. Think about the PS3 right now, what does it have for japanese gamers? Nothing. MGS usually around 500k, Yakuza peaks around there, and a bunch of niche titles and some successful new IPs but there is not a single game on the PS3 that is consider a mega hit in japan, there's nothing. The ps3 just got a price drop, but with absolutely no software worth getting for the typical japanese gamer. All they care about are PSP's and DS's.

There are a lot of japanese people who are going to buy a PS3. a lot Just not till it has the game worth getting it for. The people I have met here while working are 100% satisfied with their DS/PSP. They have all the major titles! Pokemon, Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, Mario, Monster Hunter. You might think that MH3 didn't push a lot of Wiis, but honestly, MH3 will never ever touch MHF2G it wont even reach half in japan, it will struggle to reach 1/3 the audience, and that is simply because MH3 doesnt offer much more over MHF2G.

There is absolutely nothing that can match or compare to the greatness that is FF13 for japanese gamers. They have been waiting years. This is not a monster hunter game that is simply a revamp of the same game, this is HUGE. This is what japanese gamers have been waiting for for years and years. the excitement is overwhelming and the marketing will be too. I honestly predict a First week sale of FF13 to be approximately 1.5-1.7m with a LTD way higher. There will be some people who are iffy on it after FF12, but if it shines it will have huge legs as more people accept it / fall into the hype.

Anyway just my rant, do not underestimate final fantasy, do not underestimate sony, do not underestimate what Japan can do for the PS3. Sony has a taste of success, albeit little. They are going to push with everything they have.

I swear..WKC could have been a major player for SONY if they hadn't fucked everything up...does anybody still care especially when SO4,ToV,RoF,FF13 ext are commin very soon?

verbal source, obviously not considered a real source, but demon soul's has not changed sales in a long long time, but not only is the game being restocked every week around here, it's also being constantly shipped to importers. I am an engineer with play-asia, I do a lot of work involving the shipping/ systems (I am an industrial engineer), we have gone weeks shipping over 700-800 copies of this game for a long long time and we are just one distributer. 300k is probably a huge overstatement, and I'll change that, but demon soul's is in the hands of at least 80k out of japan hands.

edit: 200k is a far more reasonable position.
edit: contributing factors to the reason of demon souls being undertracked are out of your hands. The game doesnt make the charts but it is almost always just about there. If you require a source I can get you a forwarded email from one of our stocking companies with a pretty accurate statement of how many copies we have been recieving. I could also provide you with our shipping numbers, but I'd just present a number of weekly statements.
