Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Valve calls Microsoft "Unfair"

^ Read it again.

M$ aren't saying anything about Valve. M$ are saying we make every publisher or dev charge for DLC, they gave Valve a one off letting the first DLC be totally free. What they are saying is they cant do anymore free as it's unfair to all the other publishers or devs. What Valave are saying is they see exactly where M$ are coming from, saying it would be unfair for M$ to allow another free DLC. Do you see?

I misinterpreted it then. Its MS who calls themselves unfair then is it?

It's Valve saying that Microsoft is saying that it would be unfair to publishers who want to scalp people with paid DLC if they allow Valve offer such substantial DLC for free.

AH! I see. My bad!

First i read it as "We [Valve] think that MS really must be thinking that they are unfair if We[Valve] can have DLC out for free while they[MS] charges for it"

Then i read it as "We [Valve] had one DLC out for free. And I think... they [MS] have to look and say, wow, we're [MS] kind of being unfair to everybody else [Gamers] if these guys [Valve] can do that [Have free DLC on Steam]."

But now i see what you're saying.

if valve dont want to charge and M$ did it any way, does that mean that valve aint get any money for their work and M$ is getting money for it? (and 7$ for a DLC that they are not paying the devs for it, this has a name) i think valve can say that this is unfair .... for shore!

The trouble is I find it hard to take the OP seriously, I know Valve do not like the PS3 and they are not releasing left for dead,/2 portal still alive etc on the PS3 but what I mean is the OPs sig

It is pictures of future PS3 semi exclusives(some are old revamped PS2/PSP titles) but I see no multiformat games there at all, and this is the Microsoft discussion area so to me I am setting this post to ignore.........................

So because i own a PS3 makes links to other newssites worthy of ignore? Fanboy much?

As for Multiplat.. Dantes Inferno is multiplatform. And now ive changed my sig. Do you feel that the link to another newssite is more creditable now?

Wow, the OP's headline is such a failure:

OP: Valve calls Microsoft "Unfair"

Actual quote: "We had the one DLC out for free," Faliszek explained. "And I think... they have to look and say, wow, we're kind of being unfair to everybody else if these guys can do that."

So the actual quote is that it would be unfair to other companies for Valve's new DLC to be free, because they already put out one DLC for free.

That's almost the exact opposite. Brilliant.

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games. - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick

The title makes you think Valve is directly calling M$ unfair. When in reality they are saying they add the charge so as not to be unfair to other devs and publishers.

EDIT: So in reality they are calling M$ fair.

So M$ charges for a DLC that is free on the PC and then spouts some bullshiit about how they are trying to be 'fair' in doing this. And we are supposed to take that spin at face value?
