Forums - Microsoft Discussion - I'm a hardcore PS3 owner but.....

I may have had my fanboy goggles on for too long now. Thus, I've decided to consider the scenario of purchasing a 360 elite. So, anyone here think it would be a wise decision to shell out $300 for the system?

Guidelines to understanding my train of thought:

  • THE METAL GEAR SOLID FRANCHISE IS THE BEST THING TO HIT THE PLANET SINCE THE PS3!! THUS, MGS FRANCHISE >> SLICED-BREAD.
  • Solid Snake shall and well always shove 1up mushrooms up Mario's ass.
  • Solid Snake shall and well always decimate Master Chief with a flurry of rocket launchers, shotgun rounds, and a 20 minute monologue.

Of course!. I'm a PS3 fan myself, but it's always a good plan to have access to more games!

Sure if you can find enough exclusives to justify the purchase.

whats your purpose for getting a 360?

look at the games you want for it, and if it's worth investing into a 360, then I see no issue, so you should go for it, otherwise if the number of games falls short, I'd consider waiting till either more games you like are released, or the price takes another nose dive.

Depends on what you're looking for. Despite the angst over PS3 being technically superior, unless you're into counting lines of resolution they offer similar graphics. The key is obviously the software selection... the 360 is FPS (particularly multi-player) and RPG heavy with some interesting titles such as Beautiful Katamari and Viva Pinata thrown in for good measure. There are plenty of good titles on both platforms, but if most of the titles you're interested in are multi-plat, I would save the money and spend it on additional PS3 titles. If you really, really, want some of the 360 exclusives and you're into online play, then getting the 360 might be a good investment.

To be quite honest, I'm just tired of not having the pleasure of playing some of the 360 exclusives. As much as I love my PS3 and boy does it know I do, I can't help be feel like I'm missing out on some neat video games. So, having the best of both worlds is pretty much my main motivation on the matter. Hasn't any single-console owners felt like they wish they had *insert game* since it was exclusive to the competing brand?

Take a look at the exclusives you are interested in, check out some reviews and gameplay vids and see what you think. I only recommend buying it if there's at least three games you really want, or if you're really interested in Netflix or something.

Mass effect, Gears, and left 4 dead. That pretty much covers why I want the 360.

Unlike most 360 owners around here, while I liked Mass Effect quite a bit, I played it through twice in about 30 hours and was done with it.  Gears on the other hand, particularly online horde mode, keeps me coming back.  I have Left 4 Dead, but it seems weak, story-wise, compared to Dead Rising (okay, I like the mall theme... it's just too hilarious).

You and I are in the same boat... I'm being tempted to get a PS3, and if it wasn't for a lot of other expenses right now (and limited space left in my entertainment center), I would probably get a PS3 Slim for Christmas.  I already have a standalone Blu-Ray player, but there are several exclusives such as LBP and Killzone 2 that I would like to take for a spin.
