Forums - Gaming Discussion - 360 Elite: all but official?

I don't think this is a good idea or deal. First and foremost, the price difference between the 360 and PS3 is a major advantage for Microsoft even though the features don't line up one for one. (Add a Wireless Adapter and HD DVD Player to your 360 and you'll be paying more than a similarly configured 60GB PS3. But let's not get into that argument here.) And $80 for just a bigger hard drive, HDMI connection, and a black case? I'm not sure it's worth it to most people. While the 65nm chips should be cooler and maybe more reliable, I doubt MS will be announcing that as a 'feature'. ("More reliable than other Xbox 360s!" ) And most gamers shouldn't be concerned about CPU die sizes anyway. Keep in mind that the move to 65nm was pushed back to the "middle of 2007" (as noted here). This makes me even a little more skeptical of the date. But if they do start 65 nm production early in the second quarter, supplies would be limited, and that would lend some credence to the 'limited' production rumors. And MS needs to rethink the wireless networking thing. Nintendo has it in all of their current gen machines (DS and Wii), and Sony has it in all of their PSPs and most PS3s. It's lame that the leader in the console networking arena cannot include this basic feature in a console system whose major strength is network game play.
