it shocks me as to why someone would by a 360 elite when the PS3 is the same price.

Saying that i dont know anyone with a 360 elite in the UK they all have arcades and pro's.

Even though the Elite ha sbeen a lot cheaper then the ps3 for a very long time.

Feature for feature its clear who wins but it is a complete lie about BC.

the 360 can play xbox games so

The PS3 can play PSone games so..

PS1 games... great... anything older maybe ?

Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.

Yeah, that would be stupid.

At this point softwre-wise I find more honest to focus on exclusives. You want to play Halo or Gears? then you'll need a 360. You want Uncharted or LittleBigPlanet? then you'll need a PS3.

I disagree, I think at this point in time its more dishonest to talk about exclusives. In general the people who talk about exclusives seem to have already made up their mind about which games are really important to them or play so many games that having extra 'good games' in the library available to them is a bonus.

People generally don't know the value of a game to them ahead of time. They can also make do with an equivalent or lesser multiplat/exclusive substitute as well. For example, someone who doesn't have access to Halo 3 may simply play Call of Duty 4 instead for the PS3. For the people that Halo 3 is important, they have likely already made up their mind to get an Xbox 360. For the people who don't have access to Gran Turismo, the only people who would be upset really are the people who already made up their mind to aquire or already own a PS3. The rest of the population would likely be about as happy playing Forza 3 instead.

Its a case where you cannot tell people what they will want. So unless they ask in the first place and come up with some specific requirements its quite likely that by listing a bunch of exclusives you're not helping anyone but yourself and padding your ego.

I didn't say it's great, but at least it's something.. and the chart doesn't mention anything about that either..

are we talking about price or features/games?

price: this is the first time that the PS3 will be at this price point whereas the xbox 360 has already been here.

features: each to his or her own.

Although I'm a huge 360 fan I DO think the 360 prices still need to go down a bit in the light of the PS3 price drop and PS3 slim, the 360 has always been cheaper than the PS3 as it hasn't got as many features built in as standard (bluray, wifi etc), unless the 360 adds all these as stanard it really has to come down in price a bit.

I think the 360 will drop again before the holidays as the PS3 will start to pick up which may start to worry Microsoft who will then drop prices again, I mean come on, a £30 price drop on the 360 Elite in the UK?! what is the point in £30? should have just waited a bit and dropped it by £50 or £70.

And the arcade going up by £30, I can't see that price staying like that for long to be honest, I don't know who's idea the latest 360 pricing was but someone needs to be sacked.....

The glaring lack of acknowledging the 360s BC makes me wonder...

Just kiss the tip.

I'll break your black heart, but I think we're basically agreeing: if you already know exactly what you want to play and it is an exclusive, then that's the only case in which one library has an "objective" advantage over the other - and thus the only case in which I think you can honestly talk about software as an objective bullet point in a feature matrix.

If you just know that you're in for "a good shooter" or "a good racing game" then both libraries at this point in time will offer enough to satisfy you, and the differences are strictly subjective.

Since when does the 360 not have backwards compatibility?

Since always, it's very limited and it's not a general emulation, it's on a case by case thing. It's like if Sony put about 20 PS2 games on PS3 store and allowed people that had those 20 games on disc to play on their PS3, you still wouldn't say that PS3 has PS2 BC would you? You can say PS3 has more of a BC because of PS1 BC.

I wouldn't say it's very limited... most of the big Xbox games are there. Too many to count.
