"This isn’t news that’s about to rival the fact that Super Mario Galaxy’s release date has been brought forward because Nintendo loves us and can’t bear to watch us suffer the waiting (it hasn’t, but we live in hope), but a remarkable little tale nonetheless. Amazon’s list of Top 100 Most Registered Items for weddings isn’t a toaster or some fancy china… it’s the Nintendo Wii.
Oh, yes. The top ten entries include the likes of OXO’s Good Grips Salad Spinner, Simply Calphalon’s Nonstick 6-piece Bakeware Set and Edge’s Brownie Pan, but it’s Nintendo’s latest home console that trumps them and bags the top spot.
A little lower down the list in 15th position is the Wii Remote, hinting that many a honeymoon is now being spent playing a few competitive matches on Wii Sports rather than any, y’know, hanky panky.
Two more Wii-related items make the list. In 26th place is the Nunchuck controller and at 75th a Wii Charge Station.
The Microsoft Xbox 360 features in 96th spot, while the Sony PlayStation 3 is nowhere to be seen.
