Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Rumor: Marvelous porting Wii game to PS3/360

I hope this isn't true, the games won't do any better on the HD consoles and 90% of their Wii efforts haven't even been released in North America yet. And the HD consoles already have enough exclusives, the Wii needs some.

Whatever happened to your belief that you should be able to buy any console (or just 1 console was it) and enjoy yourself?

Seems like fewer exclusives means that more gamers will have the chance to enjoy great games.

So far the multiplatform trend has resulted in less than desireable results for the industry in terms of creativity and game design.

Also, I'm not sure where you got this belief that I believed such things.

Maybe I'm thinking of another poster.

Also, how does multiplatforming benefit the Wii when games can only be ported away from it, not to it?

My position is that multiplatform games benefit the gamers who would have otherwise not gotten an opportunity to play the games had they remained exclusive.  I don't believe I mentioned the Wii-specifically or your point in either post above.

I do not think this is a wise decision of Marvelous. Their games have never sold extremely well on any platform and this includes the PS2. However, if they, as a company, think that the grass is greener in HD Land then I suggest they give it a try. Yet it will not end well for their games. The amount of cost to port the games over could be spent in an advertising deal that would have helped their games in the long run or they could have teamed up with a publisher who would support the game with an advertising campaign, instead of Ubisoft.

If Nintendo is successful at the moment, it’s because they are good, and I cannot blame them for that. What we should do is try to be just as good.----Laurent Benadiba

If its technically easy to do and helps them make higher margins, then I'm all for it. I don't need exclusive Wii games, I just want to have a top- notch selection. I'm fine if ALL 3rd party Wii-games are multi-platform, so long as we don't get the cheapo port and real effort is put into a good Wii version.

Hardware is only a means to enjoy great games!

I agree with you on this. The one problem I do have, is that the head of Marvelous half-heartedly joked that a flopped HD game would ruin them. So I definitely understand where the "Consider" came from, just that the spin it's gotten to where it's REALLY gonna happen, doesn't make sense...

The Interweb is about overreaction, this is what makes it great!

...Imagine how boring the interweb would be if everyone thought logically?

Personally I think they should wait to see how Rainy Woods sales before thay do that... ( http://xbox360.ign.com/objects/761/761567.html )

It's a Japanese bomb in the making.  Most new IPs seem to get the cold shoulder over there.
