Forums - Sony Discussion - Is 2008 REALLY Sony's year?

I think by 2009 PS3 will just be far way to behind to catch up and the x360 is going to have a real hard time with no real big games next year. The Wii will continue to dominate and just have their lead grow and grow..

Around the Network

Well, the blu-ray is getting more popular. The PSN is coming of age. The other product improvements like Home, and the VOD stuff are coming soon. The DVR Tivo stuff won't hurt either.  The PS3 also looks like it will finally get a entry level model that would be more widely used, which is also going to help reach those consumers that don't want to spend $500.

So, I see a significant increase in perceived value for the PS3 a year from now as compared to now, versus its competitors that just aren't doing as much to increase their product's value.  The 360's XBL just can't get that much better than it already is, but the PSN has a lot of growing room.  The Wii doesn't have a lot of room either to improve its product.

Without being fanboyish soriku, you must admit sony has the biggest line up next year. Without all these roumers coming out about a "40gb" model, it may be possible it can lead them into a great year. As well as a likely price cut. MGS4 is stated for spring, as well as Little big planet, HOME,GTA 4, and killzone 2.

Alot of factors have to go perfect for sony. Killzone 2 must be a great sucess, FF XIII must be relesed in 2008, they do release 40gb. They simply need to get there act together.

I must admit, this site is really full of alot of nintendo fanboys.

 2008 end of year predictions:

PS3: 22M

360: 25M

wii: 40M

Biggest line-up Zackblue? I'm not weighing in on the Sony domination, but I'm not sure you can make that claim as an absolute.

You sure do remind me of someone. Where is a nice spot to visit in Seattle? Something unique other than the Space Needle?

Remind of who? Please refresh my memory as to who you think I am. Ive been here for a long time to be wasting my time as someone else. Im not going to start and argue with anyone. You have your gaming bias and I have mine.

I don't see Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy versus XIII coming in the US/EU before 2009, though they still have a great line-up.

Metal Gear Solid 4/ Online, White Knight Story, Valkyrie of the Battlefield, Killzone 2, Gran Turismo 5, Tekkken 6, Yakuza 3, Star Ocean IV are all going to be triple A titles and they are going to move millions of consoles.

There is no reason to argue because I see no flaw. 2008 really does seem like a good year for Sony. But it isn't going to dominate the Wii (WiiFit anyone?).

Sony shot themselves in the foot and are trying to recover, that is to say IF they can recover. Unless they do something big in the next 6-12 months, it's lights out PS3.

"""KZ2 won't do as much as KZ1. And lots of fanboys are just hyping it up but KZ isn't much of a proven or popular franchise. """

==>lol
the problem is that KZ1 have some problem and the main one was : frame rate (correct me if I m wrong)
It was technically limited by the PS2.
WE KNOW that KZ2 is ok at this level.
We know that KZ2 own all the console games except maybe (I dont know in fact) Gear of WAr/UT3/CoD4.

I dont know what will do this game but dont compare it to KZ1 just because of the "killzone" name.

Time to Work !

I doubt Yakuza 3 will be AAA. Yakuza 1 was average. And unless Yakuza 2 seems to be incredible, I din't have high hopes for it.
