Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Ju-On Wii looks to me like it may be the best Horror game yet!

Just turned on the old Nintendo Channel, noticed a short teaser for Ju-On (formerly The Feel).  Great little trailer that again showed why this will trump Silent Hill 2 as the best horror game out there.  I love Horror movies, and own probobly 500 of them, the reason I love them is because (espescially in the foreign ones cases) they provoke a response in me, and actually freak me out at times.  I just love that feeling.  The best ones lately to me, have been from Takeshi Shimizu.  The Grudge, Ju-On, Marebito, Rinne, etc, all wierd and truly strange frightening movies.  He's involved in this game, and is making it not about fighting at all really.  Just puzzles and the whole element of psychological terror.  The best parts to me in any horror game, were never swinging a pipe at some monster, or headshotting guys in RE.  It's the bits inbetween where they let you know why its a horror game.  It's not in HD, but the combo of Shimizu and a videogame is too hard to ignore.

Simply put I'm saying it right now, that this game will own all.  And this is from a guy named after Silent Hill.

Last year's game of the year turned out to be Silent Hill : Shattered Memories (online GOTY was COD 6).  This year's GOTY leader to me is Heavy Rain.

Maybe, the only complain I have is that it may be short. Between this, Silent Hill: Shattered Memories and Cursed Mountain I'll have a lot of survival horror to play.

^^^

as a guy who loves the director involved, it could be 30 minutes, and id buy it. but yeh, i hope it is decent sized, but id prefer quality over quantity anyway.

i am grabbing SH as well of course.

Cursed Mountain had a boring trailer to me, but im definetly gonna try it out.

I hope it is at least 5 hours. SH:SM is also short but it has amazing replay value.

Sh's definetly always have replay value.

I'm replaying one right now actually.

Wii has become the home of the true horror game for now.

The question, of course, is why

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

SW Wii is 5 - 8 isnt it? But yea replay on different psychological settings.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Not only the game changes based on the psychological profile, everything you do or see in the game will change future events.

Strangely, I think we can thank the Resident Evil franchise. Even though the two games which sold a million on Wii have little to do with horror, it's still percieved by the industry as a survival/horror franchise. Combined with the fact that survival/horror has always been a little niche, and perhaps too miche to pay for an HD budget without a huge name like Resident Evil behind it, and publishers feel more secure approving these titles for the Wii.

That's easy. The Wiimote was born to be a flashlight
