Forums - Gaming Discussion - Tecmo on ps3, and why they are developing exclusive to ps3

Meh, i'll care when they announce a new ROTK game. They and Koei are the same company right?

Dunno what's taking so long.

I think devs need to focus more on a game's storyline, depth, and immersion than just there pretty game engine.

killzone 2 is an example, the original had a great story line, the sequel had an ok storyline but pales in comparison to the original, the devs focused on there graphics engine not the actual game.

Sorry didn't see your post!

Yeah I think some devs get carried away with making the game look incredible. I really like Left 4 Dead because they concentrated so much on the gameplay and making the game fun, without worrying to much about the graphics.

However as devs become more skilled working with the PS3, all the tech side should become easier freeing up time to work on making the game itself more fun.

I'm not saying PS3 games sell bad, I just feel that unless the game is made to appeal to the Japanese audience, that it would do better multi or 360 exclusive. The exact same could be said for Japanese 3rd party games exclusive on the 360.

Steady Seece! Let me address this:

Firstly the Xbox 360 has a 8m lead of course games have a tendency to sell better on the x360 but that does not mean that games that are multi or exclusive sell better on the x360. Games such as:

  • Tomb Raider
  • Pro Evo 2009
  • Fifa 2009
  • Burnout Paradise
  • Devil May cry 4
  • Resident Evil 5
  • Street fighter

Have sold all better on the ps3!!

The ps3 compared to Xbox 360 has a better attach rate, despite the 8m difference in console owners. Software sales between Ps3 and Xbox 360 are close.

The notion that games that appeal to the Japanese only sell better on the ps3 is like saying that games aimed at the american market sell better on the Xbox 360. If we don't consider Japan than we must not consider America and that leaves Europe and the ps3's games sell better in Europe!!

Sony Leader out!

Very short and sweet indeed

There are very few occasions multi games sell more on the PS3, they either have to be Sports games in Europe, former PS franchise, or Japanese aimed.

If Killzone 2 was on the 360 (yeah I know Sony owns the IP) it would be at 2.5+ million by now

Umm, what? Did you even beat KZ2? It was amazing. You find out that you are the bad guys the whole time! On top of that it's a series of cause and effect relationships on the battlefront. I don't know how you could say that.

@willyzzz

No, that was because of "Itagaki"

I think when these devs make there all powerful game and get lower than expect sales, they'll see PS3 exclusive was not the right way.

but, how do you know thia one is going to sell bad?.

I didn't say it would sell bad. However good it sells (and it will never do anything more than 3 million) unless this game is aimed at the Japanese, then it would of benefitted it more to be on the 360 also or even a 360 exclusive.

oh i see. well i dont agree with you. i believe this game could be aimed to americans or any audience and be ps3 exclusive and still sell good. well thats my opinion. sure it may sell more if it is multi or 360 exclusive but the fact that is ps3 exclusive doesnt mean is going to get lower than expected sales.

I agree shooters with the Xbox 360 controller is just heavenly. Killzone 2 has legs.
