Well I was playing Gears Of War 2 at my friends house and we had alot of problems . The game kept on slowing down even when there were only two people in the game , we we're experiene lag and so on , I am really disappointed with the game.

Anyone know what the problem could be?.

You were playing splitscreen? The game should be running really smooth -- it did for me, anyway, all through the campaign.

I think we were playing online but the textures were so low res even on the menus that we didn't know what mode where in. The audio was impressive however

Yeah, this makes no sense. If you were playing online, that explains your lag because you probably have slow internet connection or the host was just bad.

The texture issue I have never heard of and would either be an issue with the disc itself or the video connection/TV.
