The Neo Geo lasted longer, with some of its top tier franchises still being released on the system in 2004.

Even if I accept the 1990-2004 lifespan, that is still only as long as the Genesis lasted.  And considering SNK went bankrupt in 2001, I would argue that if 2001-2004 counts on the Neo-Geo, 2002-2007+ ought to count for the Genesis and 1998-2007+ for the Master System.

Dude, what country do you live in where the Geneis came out in 2002 and the Master System in 1998?

Sony could create PSN games for PS4 and PS3. This is an advantage comparded to earlier generations. That's why it's important to keep wifi in 40GB system.

When you've bought a PS4, your PS3 will collect dust. But at the same time a family buys a PS3 to watch Blu-ray movies and play Little Big Planet.

If you buy the 60 TB PS4 and you're not in a PAL country, yes.

But the 80 TB PS4 will not include the legacy Cell chip used for running older PS3 games, relying on software emulation instead, which will only run 80% of the games.

Allow me to quote myself:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sega_Mega_Drive
"Globally the Sega Mega Drive and games began production in Japan in 1988 and ended with the last new game being released in 2002 in Brazil."
"The Mega Drive is still manufactured in Brazil, with many games built into the console."
So I clearly meant that the Mega Drive had an undisputed life of 1988-2002 and a disputable additional life extending from 2002 out into the future.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sega_Master_System
(released in 1986)
"The last commercial licensed release in Brazil was Sonic Blast, released by Tec Toy on 1998. The Master System is still being produced in Brazil."
  Same thing.

Inspite of Madden 2008 being available for the Gamecube (6 years after the system was released) I really don't think that it is reasonable to say that the Gamecube's life was (much) longer than 4.5 or 5 years; in much the same way I don't think you can claim that the Playstation lived much past the end of 2002. In order for a system to be supported (in my opinion) it has to have more than inexpensive, low quality, cash in titles; these systems quality of life ended well before their feeding tube was pulled from their brain dead body.

Christmas 2008 will effectively be the final days of the PS2 and it will coast on fumes until 2010 (or later).

Ever heard of the blank NES carts that you could download games onto?  They were active in Japan even with some new games up until 2005 or 2006.   They were stopped not because people weren't still using them but because the Wii VC would conflict with it in Japan.
