Forums - Sales Discussion - 2007 v 2008 v 2009 - YOY YTD The Big 3

^ lol. Damn, I realize Im sounding too pessimistic for being a 360 fanboy.

Nintendo and Sony are fine they both have cards to play. I'm impressed with ms though. I reckon this holiday will be just like last between the HD consoles (unless gt5 ff and a price cut land) they know they need to be a certain amount cheaper than Sony and until Sony can get to mass market prices this gap is going to grow and grow. 300 quid is too much for most people.

The 360 sales were double in 2009 compared to 2007. I wonder if it can keep it up and see and increase next year. The Wii is only down slightly due to Japan sales being down a lot compared to last year. PS3 is down the most but not surprising bring the most expensive and costing the same as it did last year.

Kowenicki could you make one with each region as well?

By "crush" they mean catch up on a weekly basis.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

the thing that intrests me the most is that the ps3 is supposed to be doomed but yet they are doing better in 2009 then what the 360 did in 2008 so far, also at a higher price tag may i add, stunning just stunning go ps3 go Sony.

I mean we all know how the end of 2008 ended for the 360 dont we, Imagine the ps3 :)

Nobody's perfect. I aint nobody!!!

Killzone 2. its not a fps. it a FIRST PERSON WAR SIMULATOR!!!! ..The true PLAYSTATION 3 launch date and market dominations is SEP 1st

Wow PS3 Was ahead about 1 million to 360 last year and 360 only ahead 500k this year despite price difference!!Well done!

Hang on... so thats good?

Thats a 1.5 million swing..... 1.5 million!

All things considered, yes, that is very good for Sony.  They are barely being outsold by the 360 and its half its price.

No bad for Sony, they pay people to own PS3s and still they can't give them away fast enough to beat Microsoft.

Xbox 360 $300

PS3 $400, but you gotta take away:

  • Blu Ray $200
  • Wireless $100
  • 8 years of Live $400
  • replacement Xbox 360 in a couple of years $150

So the real prices are Xbox 360 $300, Sony gives you $550 to own a PS3 so really it costs $850 more to own an Xbox 360!

Tease.

I would love to know the breakdown on the Xbox 360 sales by pricepoint.

(I would say the same for the Sony but the 40G unit seems to be ubiquitous).

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

I believe that Microsoft could match a $100 PS3 price cut with a $50 price cut along all SKUs and still win Christmas, its just a theory I have about how the two consoles tend to sell.

Average sale price is $290 according to pachter, so pretty firm majority Premiums followed by Arcades and those are trailed by Elite units.

Impossible. If a $350 PS3 in 2009 gets matched by a $50 price cut on the X360, then X360 mite win the Holidays, but a $299 PS3 is no joke.
