Forums - Gaming Discussion - Favourite VC titles...

I have downloaded a bunch of VC titles (so far), and really enjoyed... most of them. Which ones do people think are duds, and which do they recommend the most? I'll briefly mention some of my favourites: - Legend of Zelda (original): may be my fav download to date. Had played the game (years ago), but had also forgotten how challenging and fun the game is. Highest recommendation - esp. for the price. - Gunstar Heroes: One of the games I never played previously. Still waiting to have some two-player goodness, but I think its generally worth grabbing. If you like insane shooters that is. Find many of the bosses *very* difficult. Recommended for hardcore players. - Solomon's Mines: One of the first games I picked up. I actually thought it was something else.. but have played enough of it to make the purchase worth it. I don't think most people will enjoy it, but if you love "action" puzzle games - you may enjoy this. - Kirby's Adventure: Another game I never played previously. I find the gameplay a little "loose" and confusing - but the game makes up for it with a huge amount of levels/content. I think I was expecting it to be a tighter, puzzle based game (closer to mario). Definitely growing on me, and it may be ideal for non-gamers/children (as there is a large room for error in most of the game). And its very long... which is great (only 20% through I think). Waiting for some Metroid titles (Im in Australia - no Metroid yet!), and more N64 goodness. And Wrecking Crew (on the NES)! ;)

So far only have three. Super Mario Bros. -- timeless. Gradius -- one of the hardest damn games ever. Still have never beat it. and Super Mario World. -- just a fun game. I plan on getting Kid Icarus, Metroid, Super Metroid, various Castlevania's, and quite a few more NES and SNES games. Probably won't get any others as they have never really peaked my attention. Maybe original Sonic.

til now, i have downloaded 8 VC titles: Super Mario Bros, Super Mario World, Zelda (1), Mario Kart 64 : as great as ever. no brainer purchase. (also i am pretty mad you can't save on mario kart) Gunstar Heroes, Kirby's adventure: never played before, downloaded them because of their high scores on VC reviews. Neat but not as engaging as i thought they would be. Sonic: never played before either and just way too hard for me. i keep trying and i keep dying... Excite Bike: my one error based on nostalgia: not enough of a game to be worth it, even 500 points. it could have been ok with multiplayer, but solo is just too short...

I thought I had read on ign or ninendo's site that this error is/was fixed. I would query nintendo's site if this feature is a big deal to you. Plus, isn't the save error only with ghost times ???

they fixed some minor glitch but since the data saved on N64 was on some "rumble pack" or something like that, external to the console, it can't be fixed unless they decide to alter the code, thing they haven't been keen on lately... The save error is complete meaning any time, achievement, trophy earned is wiped out when you shut down the game, and there is no ghost.

That is odd. I didn't think the problem was that extreme - all N64 games saved to the memory pack, which plugs into the controller (and ended up with a rumble pack extension.. I think). It wouldn't be a hard think to emulate - just map a region of region into a function that saves data. Odd???

Im very tempted to get Super Mario World - just finished NSMB (DS - and I mean finished, getting every coin in the game ;) - I don't think you can go wrong with it. Mario Kart is also tempting, as my GC Mario Kart has been at a friends place for 3 years (and I'll never get it back). I played ExciteBike years ago, and Im not tempted to play it again. I also have Castlevania 4 - and its a definite worth download.

I have Gradius - and love it. Im a big shooter fan, so I'll probably end up with all them (haven't picked up RTypeIII yet though). Surprised you haven't finished it yet though? I don't remember it being that hard? (haven't finished it this time around yet though...:>).

yeah, that's what i thought. so when they announced some tinkering with mario kart, i was as giddy as a school girl, and then as desappointed when i found out that they didn't fix it. however, they did alter the code, meaning they can, meaning may be one day, when i'll be old and dying, they'll fix it??

I didn't play it as often as other games when I was a kid, I have been focusing on it now though. I still think it is incredibly difficult. I mean, can someone beat it without the code?
