Forums - Sales Discussion - How low before it counts as trolling?

There was a thread recently where the poster made some predictions that were much lower than the norm for PS3. Not surprisingly there were acusations of trolling flying around. So this got me wondering what everyone thought was the line for trolling is for each system (ie. how low does a sales prediction need to be for the prediction itself to be considered trolling?).

I greatly appreciate all input on this topic.

first why is this i sales?
second it just takes one perfson to report it.
third troll is considered flaming dont use it.
fourth trolling is when you specifically try to derail a topic or make a stupid thread about another console

I think it would have to be a blatant skewing of numbers. In this case, while I dont agree with him, I wouldnt call it trolling, unless he couldnt back it up with anything.

IMO, those who were calling the topic creator a troll in that thread were trolling themselves.

If I were to make a thread saying "It's my honest opinion that Uncharted 2 will not even sell 1/3 as many units as Gears 2 did" Would I be trolling?

A lot of times trolling comes down to what the majority of people don't want to hear, or that contradicts majority opinion.

Reporting it is a way of trying to keep dangerous ideas or ideas that the mass is uncomfortable with from getting out.

Like some people try to report others to the psyche ward when they think someone else might know too much about something.

My most anticipated games:  Whatever Hideo Kojima is going to do next, Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Gran Turismo 5, Alan Wake, Wii Sports Resort.  Cave Story Wiiware.

Because I'm asking what kind of sales predictions are considered offensive. Where should I put that?

well, thats fine then, but you should really put it into the website forum.

I don't think any thread about sales predictions that was an honest opinion backed up with some kind of evidence has ever been considered trolling. It's only trolling when you are making unreasonable predictions with no evidence with the intent to rile people up.

The person can still be wrong and have completely unreasonable predictions, it's the intent and evidence that makes it trolling or not in my eyes.

edit: specifically about that thread, it is not trolling, but is not a great prediction either.

...

When what is being said offends a majority of people.
