you haven't played it long enough. There are all sorts of time travel mechanics in this game. It's a JRPG and I can't think of a single JRPG that doesn't take more than a few hours to get into. Chrono trigger really is the greatest RPG of the SNES generation, and IMO the best JRPG to date.
