Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Arc Rise Fantasia - a ton of new screens and scans

And screens seem to show that the entire world of ARP is detailed, not just the characters. In Radiata, the models look great, while backgrounds are much more sparse and have this almost storybook design.

Yup that's exactly what Sqeenix was going for. I personally loved this game and for $20.00 new, why the hell not? lol

I have to say this game has had a better story then most or their games lately because of the missing Emo factor. Everyone was happy in this game or just villainous. There was non of this sad mopey story telling which we see so much today. The ability to choose sides for the Humans or Creatures was also a plus. As it made me play the game through a second time. The humor wasn't to bad either and made me chuckle a few times.

I really wouldn't mind a Radiata Stories 2 for the PS2/PSP. The art style works so they don't have to improve the graphics much but it sure would take a blow to the gut from reviewers.

Ha! It's funny because he's emo!

100 geek points if you get the reference.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

I really hope you don't think that first screenshot is Tales of Symphonia 2.

This is a SquareEnix game called Radiata Stories. It was a budget game for Square that actually turned out to be a decent game. Although this game doesn't play anything like a Tales game and is a completely different art style than Arc Rise Fantasia.

But if you did know that then sorry in advance.

Radiata Stories is a tri-Ace game and it's not budget.

Really? It was made by Tri-Ace? I didn't know that? *sarcasm*

You really don't need to try to prove me wrong cause I played the damn game. But who published it? Square-Enix and that is enough to justify what I stated.

Ohhhh really? So this and FFXII/DQVIII costed the same then? Last time I checked this was low budget for a Square-Enix/tri-Ace game.

Nice try.

No one cares. It's a tri-Ace game and it's not low budget. You don't need to throw a hissy fit over facts. That's all there is to it.

A publisher and developer are HUGELY different. Id play a tri-ace game before I play any shit S-E puts out. Though I gotta say Tri-Ace is still meh. Tri-Crescendo over both imo.

A game doesnt need FFXII/DQVIII budget to be considered high budget.

Wow... wow... Really? I'm being told game publisher and developer is different? You mean Square-Enix are not the makers of 007 Quantum of Solace in Japan?

Here you go! I bet this will make you happy in your pants. Mid budget Game, Radiata Stories is. I got this wrong though and flew off the handle. Sorry. But this is way lower budget than Square-Enix made games. Tri-Ace high budget but for gaming giant Square-Enix to publish mid to low budget.

Sorry for my behavior but it was something in how it was typed that flipped a switch. Next time I'll research better.

@NanakiXI

You're new to the forums so you probably didn't see Radiata Stories appear in the "Now Playing" part of my signature a couple months back. Otherwise you wouldn't have made such a silly post.

As for how the games play, I think it's equally silly for you to even mention it considering my post was clearly only talking about graphics (indicated by the fact that gameplay isn't mentioned anywhere within).

Sorry to deprive you of your "Aha!" moment, but keep at it. I'm sure you'll have one that doesn't make you look foolish eventually.

Let's try and save this thread from being a miserable /r/ thread!

Has any of the plot been revealed yet or have they just teased us with screens so far?

 According to Wikipedia:

Arc Rise Fantasia is set in the Meridian Empire. Creatures called "Contaminant Dragons" are causing a lot of trouble as they pass the Meridian in flocks. If one is killed, the resulting explosion poisons the local area. When the empire receives word that a massive horde has its sights on the capital of Diamant, it immediately sends out an army to fight them, including L'Arc, a cool and collected novice mercenary, and his friend Arth (short for Alphonse), the beloved prince and second in line for the throne. L'Arc is severely injured during the battle, but is saved by a girl named Ryfia, who has secrets in her past and possesses the power to control "ley squalls," naturally-occurring storms of magic that usually take the form of luminous rain. A young woman named Adelle, who has been a friend of L'Arc since childhood, renders assistance to the party through use of her unique form of magic, Luminomancy.

"Pier was a chef, a gifted and respected chef who made millions selling his dishes to the residents of New York City and Boston, he even had a famous jingle playing in those cities that everyone knew by heart. He also had a restaurant in Los Angeles, but not expecting LA to have such a massive population he only used his name on that restaurant and left it to his least capable and cheapest chefs. While his New York restaurant sold kobe beef for $100 and his Boston restaurant sold lobster for $50, his LA restaurant sold cheap hotdogs for $30. Initially these hot dogs sold fairly well because residents of los angeles were starving for good food and hoped that the famous name would denote a high quality, but most were disappointed with what they ate. Seeing the success of his cheap hot dogs in LA, Pier thought "why bother giving Los Angeles quality meats when I can oversell them on cheap hotdogs forever, and since I don't care about the product anyways, why bother advertising them? So Pier continued to only sell cheap hotdogs in LA and was surprised to see that they no longer sold. Pier's conclusion? Residents of Los Angeles don't like food."
