Forums - Website Topics - Nintendo Bias

Is it me or is this website totally biased towards Nintendo. I mean look at the top rated games. They are totally dominated by Nintendo. Most of the stories center around Nintendo and they seem to be rooting for the Wii to dominate. Is it me or is this true?

The website is reflective of the people that frequent it.

To cash in my CC rewards points for $300 in Circuit City gift cards to purchase a 360 or not: That is the question.

I can see where you're coming from. However I think the top rated games show which games people here have taken to heart, perhaps as so many are on the N64 they liked them so much partially because of a lack of alternatives, so it made a great game seem better.

People rooting for the Wii shows the level of intruige it creates. The 360 and PS3 will have great games, but other than improved graphics and AI, what are we going to see on them that wasn't possible on the previous generation? People see a game coming out on the Wii and they are wondering how it will play and what you will be able to do with the game. It's not so much them wanting the Wii to dominate, just to see what they will get to do with it.

People generally like Nintendo more when more people have Nintendo consoles/games, and the company seems to be doing everything right these days. It was the same with Sony back when they lead the market.

It is not ioi (the guy who keeps this show going), it is the users. It's a sales site, since Nintendo is selling well, they feel like this is a good place to frequent.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

Maybe the community on this site is Nintendo-biased, but you have to remember that the community is not making the charts.

Currently Playing: Skies of Arcadia Legends (GC), Dragon Quest IV (DS)

Last Game beaten: The Rub Rabbits(DS)

There are 2 main things to explain this :

- People who like sales numbers are mainly people with a very good knowledge of videogames and most of them tend to be a bit fanboyish, and Nintendo undoubtedly has the biggest fanbase.

- Xbox and PS fans don't come on VGChartz much, since they don't believe sales numbers mean anything (basically because numbers give Nintendo as the winner).

Yes, but that wasn't until recent.  Xbox had the lead for the longest time.  I own the 360 and used to have the Wii, so I'm not anit-Wii but the game ratings just really blows my mind.  I mean how can Nintendo dominate the charts like that?!
