Forums - Gaming Discussion - Once again, my interest in a game has been totally killed by the demo...

The victim this time being Killzone 2.  Much like Uncharted, Ratchet & Clank Future, Burnout Paradise, Saint's Row and Tales of Vesperia before it, the demo completely removed any former purchasing intention that may have existed (excluding the possibility of a severely reduced price, which may or may not eventually sway the decision).

I guess they work both ways though, as the Valkyria Chronicles demo sold me completely and I rather enjoyed the Crackdown and Viva Pinata demos as well.

Have you ever been totally put off a game by its respective demo?

Absolutely.

I hated the Brothers in Arms demo.I played the previous ones and liked them, but the demo for Hells Highway turned me off completely.

I almost bought that game for $15... but then I relented.   Was it the right choice?  ;)

It depends on if you want a really pretty and fast-paced DS game...

Or Ninja Gaiden.

I realized I would beat th game in four hours, tops, and then maybe never play it again.

the RE5 demo completely put me off the game, while at the same time making me want to buy it because I had such fun playing co-op with my friend.

Strange... isn't it?

I was totally put off by the Valkyria Chronicles demo, but I think I was playing it wrongly. I would use up all my running for the turn, and run right up to the enemy and around them a bit. Then shoot a few shots. Laugh at how silly the game is for a bit. Start to get bored, sacrafice a few more characters for my own amusement.

I also hated the darkness demo, fear 2 demo, and that other demo where you're mutated arm throws a scythe/frisbee. Oh and the GRAW 2 demo sucked too.

I didn't really care about the Killzone 2 demo, it wouldn't have made my mind up on the game either way. What had me sold were the mp gameplay videos.

I had a really negative reaction to the RE5 demo at first, but after trying it with RE4 controls I actually enjoyed it more.  Co-op was sweet, too.  Still on the fence about that game...

I was _almost_ put off of Uncharted because of the demo. Recently I gave it a chance as a Platinum Title and I'm glad I did as I happen to love the final game... trying to get my platinum trophy in it :)

And I won't be buying RE5... I planned to play it solo, but the Sheva AI in the demo made it look like it would be a chore. Maybe as a budget title later along the line.

Plus Tom Clancy's HAWX: intrigued by the idea, tried the demo yesterday, discovered that the plane doesnt control like a plane at all (lift doesn't change and plane doesn't turn as you roll), scrapped it.
