Forums - Nintendo Discussion - PS2 is the wii's biggest enemy, and wii is the PS2 biggest helper...

of course stof....I think that the PS3 and Wii will be expanding their userbase and market share for quite a while

What I meant was that Right now it seems like the Wii version is the afterthought to the PS2 version. But I have a feeling that won't last long. Manhunt 2 for instance seems to have the most focus on the Wii version. And at the incredibly high rate at which the Wii is selling, it won't be long before it becomes the console that devs base their Wii/PS2 games on.

As for the PS3, it may never get over the same problem that it has with 360/PS3 games. the larger Userbase of the 360, and continued competitive sales might keep most dev's thinking 360 first.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

What are the games that are being ported to the wii from the PS2?

Doesn't it make sense to make them for the wii and then port down to the Ps2?

Like Manhunt and boogie...

I'm not worried at all. Zack & Wiki and Dewy's Adventure are almost out. They're both 80-90% titles that I'm quite excited about and wouldn't be possible on the PS2.

Hardcore gaming is a bubble economy blown up by Microsoft's $7 $6 billion losses.

@lep-j What are those "huge RPGs as we speak"? Persona 3? That's ONE. PS2 WILL die eventually. Next year or 09.

 dot.hack vol 1-3

Growlanser

Odin sphere

Wild arms 5

shinning force exe

and more just cant find them. Persona 3 is another one. Most of those games have a 4.5-5/5 with custumer reviews in gamestop.

.Hack - been out

Growlanser VI - Not huge in the least

Odin Sphere - been out and not huge

Wild Arms 5 - Better, but still not "huge"

Shining Force EXA - Came out in the beginning of the year

What are you smoking?

I can't help but think Dewy's Adventure really isn't going to live up to a lot of peoples expectations.

^ Yeah, OK, like you said that Lair, WH, and HS would ensure dominatiob but they're mediocre.

WOW, ignorant much. Heavenly Sword's only bad aspect is the length but other then that is not to bad, certainly not mediocre. Warhawk is not mediocre, don't go there.

Agreed.

On topic, I agree, but I don't think it's something that will continue for a whole lot longer.  I agree with Happy that the PS2 likely won't be around through 09 as a major player in the industry.  I think this Xmas will be it's last hurrah, but when the Wii gets it's first price drop next year to $200, the price that 80%+ of the PS2s were sold at, the PS2 will finally die out.  I really think it's already dying and what we are seeing is mostly people replacing old broken ones (I bought my 3rd one just 6 months ago).  I support this with the evidence of the PS2's software sales.  Despite constantly increasing system sales, software sales have been declining for the last 2 years.

@ vagabond... you are right... this will be a big problem... 1st the ps2 was making underpowered ports of multi-platform games to xbox and gamecube... now it's cursing next gen consoles with them as well...when will the madness end =(

I think the PS2 ports are more helpful than hurtful honestly.  People who are buying these games are going to eventually move on to the Wii since it has the same types of games they have been playing and it also has the big Nintendo Franchises.  Not to mention it is the cheapest option for getting into the next generation.

It seems to me that the folks still with a PS2 and no next-gen systems they are the stingy smart shoppers looking to get their games as cheap as possible.  And I think right now the Wii fits that bill better than any of the other consoles, if for no other reason than the $50 price tag on games.
