Forums - Sony Discussion - *RUMOUR* PS4 Specs: Holographic Disc (HVD)

Gilgamesh said:

HVD! no f-ing way, a HVD player today cost $15,000! and 1 disk cost about $150! even if the PS4 will only be released 2011-2013 its still going to be expensive as hell, and I don't think Sony can pull another PS3. Like I said many times it'll pretty much be a PS3.5 instead of 4, and definitely not QF-HDTV maybe PS5. Where do these people think Sony's getting all this money from?

Either out of their ass or sales they are making from the PS3 right now / since launch.

OT: This has been shown before. I've seen it on here, I believe. The chart is laughable, because with the way the economy has been, I very doubt anyone would want to spend their hard-earned money on a luxury item, especially technology when it can become redundant (HD-DVD) or improves within time.

That site doesn't do it's homework.Nintendo already have a stake in holographic disk so how can sony also have rights to it. It in a past article that nintendo bought stakes in the leading holo disk company so how can this be possible?

After reading this articale my first thought was "Some one needs to get a life", and maybe get out a bit more . What a waste of time.

Ok it is different but Sony doesn't have the rights to the tech just Maxwell and Optware.

Some people must really want sony to go bankrupt with those specs.

Every Gen sony has had anew kind of disc. I don't think its that far off to think they will do it again for the PS4.

all the talk about the ps4 and next generation is not cool :(

I have seen this floating around, and it is complete rubbish. 10 GbE wont even be ubiquitous in IT until 2010-2013 let alone in the consumer market. Somebody pulled this out of their ass, oh and not to mention that Quad-HDTVs cost about 50k in 2009 and wont be hitting mass production until probably 2015.

Its speculation gone horrible wrong.

Bethesda's Todd Howard "if install base really mattered, we'd all make board games, because there are a lot of tables."

Feel free to add me ...

I think 3 generations from now consoles will not have those kinds of specs.
