Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why do they always use American voice actors?

Here me out...

I was playing Bladestorm the other day... a game where the accents are just attrocious... horrible people doing bad brittish accents...

and it hit me...

Why didn't they just get british people to do the voice acting.  I mean, why get Americans attempting to do British Acting?

Why don't they get someone who speaks english and has the actual accent they want.... rather then hire people and have them attempt really bad voice acting.

I mean... why isn't this common sense?

Could have been cheaper to go with Americans, who knows.

america as a single country buys the most games?

"Dr. Tenma, according to you, lives are equal. That's why I live today. But you must have realised it by now...the only thing people are equal in is death"---Johann Liebert (MONSTER)

"WAR is a racket. It always has been.

It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives"---Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler

Yeah but i mean.... when you have the choice between an American doing a really bad painful british accent... and a british guy just talking.

I mean, i go with the british voice actor every time.  It helps prevent laughably bad voiceacting.

I mean... go to like 2:25 in this video and tell me it wouldn't be better with british and french voice actors speaking english...

That would be the case if it weren't got the fact that not every video game publisher has the cash Square-Enix has.

Why would it cost more to hire a British voice actor then an American one?

I'm not sure.. maybe they'll use more British people now that they're the second largest gaming market in the world.

It's all to do with the cost of importing crumpets.

WHERE IS MY KORORINPA 3

I say they just go with Swahili voice acting,. Could prove interesting =)

Yeah, but we had some guy painting in my office building the other day, he said Hi and I asked if he was British and he said no I am Australian. Meh I cant tell the difference. We have a South African which I thought was British as well. But when I was over in England on a trip, I was called an American on more than one occasion but I am a Canadian. Oh well... On topic, I noticed he had a weird accent but if you never told me I wouldn't have gave it a second thought.
