RPG, I think it's doubtful they're gonna pick a game that comes out a week later on a different console in a different genre.
By the same argument, why not wait for a DS and get DQIX a few weeks later?
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

If SO3 sold 533k, then SO4 will probably 200k LTD at most, and that would be really lucky too.
130k first week
180k LTD.
32k HW
Bet - "PES 2009 (PS3) will sell (closer to) 150k first week in Japan" - Pooperscopper
"It will sell closer to 125k" - Me I agree. ME = OWNED :(
End of '09 Predictions:
Wii: 78 million
X360: 35 million
PS3: 27 million

Probably because the X360 has sold over 250,000 units since Vesperia launched. The 360 is quite a bit healthier now than what it was when ToV launched. Feel free to look at the Media Create HW charts that i've built for the 360 since it launched: http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=pTLj2bA3Ha6v8H7pvGVxdPg As you can see, the 360 has sold a lot more hardware as of late, and many games are benefitting from it. |
Yeah 250,000 units... that's great man. By that argument every RPG that did come after Blue Dragon, which they did promote like a Dragon Quest-esque game, should have sold better than it and in fact none of them didn't.
Everytime someone tries to make those horrible numbers look good, i can do nothing more than laugh. I'm not going to say that the PS3 numbers are good or something like that, but c'mon...

I don't think that Yakuza 3 will steal that much atention from SO4, but DQIX certainly will.

handhelds >>>>>>>>>>>>> HD console, not even in the same league in Japan. Yakuza 3 and SO4 come from very big franchises, they will compete with each other. Yakuza 3 will also rip SO4 a new asshole in Japan in terms of sales, they will compete with each other.
One week between Yakuza 3 and SO4, advertising has begun for Yakuza 3 on the HD console of choice in Japan. It will be interesting to see how SO4 sells compared to Yakuza 3, half the sales sounds about right. BTW DQIX will sell 3 million first week and sell huge sums of DS, nothing new here.
lets hope it sells great because that game looks amazing¡¡¡.
yeah, more chances that it will be a one time big time week only for SO4+360 hardware as the 2nd week will have Yakuza 3.
But I hope that both games will do well
cuz after diz teh FF7bluray+XIIIdemo will pawnz tem allz LOL! jowk
TLR got 105k sales 1st week so SO4 may probably go 120k-170k w/ 300k LTD
@RPG: lol, you´re funny and vulgar at the same time. So Yakuza 3 will sell 600k in Japan? I sure hope because it looks great and 300k is great for SO4 on the X360 in Japan
Memory2zach Yakuza is bigger than SO in Japan, Yakuza 2 will indeed tear apart SO4 in terms of sales.

wishful thinking... Most of the people that did buy the director's cut did already own the original, and even if SO3 sold slightly more than TotA, which it dind't, people are are literary puting at almost twice as much as ToV! |
Star Ocean 3 did sell more then Tales of the Abyss, which is sad because I think Tales games > SO games :/
Of course SO games are still quite amazing, I just think Tales is better.
GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.
No, if you add the sales of SO3 director's cut to the normal SO3 edition sales, you should also add the sales of Final Fantasy XII International Zodiac Job System Ultimania (about 100k) to Final Fantasy's XII total sales, and that just isn't right.
