Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why has piracy seemingly killed the psp but doest hurt the 360 too much?

Piracy has never killed anything, outside of swashbuckling combat of course.

I wonder how many people here who are moaning actually download music, videos, pc games/apps without paying?

It can't be one rule for one and one rule for another, if any of you have EVER downloaded even one MP3 without paying you are just as bad as the OP, simple as that,

I don't condone any form of piracy (although I do download a lot of mp3's via limewire, I'm not innocent either!), I would rather save up for a while and buy a game to get its full replay value, but that's just me.

And why risk modding your 360 if it is going to invalidate your warranty or get you banned from live?, this isn't like the old days of the dreamcast where you could burn any game without a worry, modern day pirating carries real consequences....

@Bold: Im pretty sure even a rapist would help beat up a child rapist in prison. Just because someone is considered a criminal by the state it doesn't mean they don't have moral standards.

Good point Squizzle but you know what I mean? just annoys me when some of the people replying here probably download music all the time yet thinks its fine just because it isn't "gaming"

Yah I know what you mean! In this case I think people respond to the difficult state developers are in. I don't think Chamillionaire got kicked out of his mansion for not making payment that im aware of. Furthermore theres a different image.

The image with game piracy is that you're hurting some poor developer whos working his ass off 80 hours a week and that image is correct. With movie/music piracy the image is the artist living in a mansion and not having to lift a finger with all the royalties pumping in. There is more to the subject than that, but thats probably how most people here who are both movie pirates and against game piracy see things.

That's kind of rediculous.  Not every crime is equally evil.  The person who stole a can of soda from the 7-11 is not "just as bad" as the person who stole a car.  Downloading an MP3 is not the same as stealing hundreds of games.  In fact, just how "evil" the act is can pretty much directly corrolated to the going price (price that people actually pay) for the merchandise in question.

Well,I'm mexican and as all of you could suppose here at my country almost EVERYONE got their 360 & PSP modded, why?
For play pirate games,naked truth.
From all the gamers I know (30-40) almost the 80% had mod their PSP,360 or Wii.
This just sucks.Yeah I live on a poor third world country and so?That's don't give us the chance for get and play something that we don't pay for.I got a PSP & a PS3,they're my treasures because I'll gain them with great effort and I'll never could even think about mod it (PSP),people that sells piracy are commiting a law's fault and they're getting money they don't deserve with any effort.Blame their goverments, the less opportunities to get decent jobs, heck, blame the injustice of life but don't justify this kind of fault.

Buy and sell piracy is to steal as taking something from other person just because nobody see you and share it with the ones that do it.
Guilty as the sinners.

So, it's okay for corps to steal your tax dollars but it's not okay to download a song?
