Forums - Gaming Discussion - A look back at Sega's marketing

It's been a long time since we've had a sega console, and it's been a long time since i've seen Sega, but looking back on it again Sega was probably even more aggressive than I remember.  Sega always had disgusting commericals that made no sense, but they were also aggressive and attacked their rivals.  Back in the day fanboyism was even worse than it is now, and the war was even more heated.  Oh the good ol' days.

Oh the propoganda that sega used to give us.  "With only 1 processor, it doesn't have the power."

Here is another commercial of Sega bashing PS1.

Oh, and don't forget blast processing!  How can you make fun of mario kart!?

Genesis does what Nintendon't, oh how clever Sega was.

remember a commercial too when the N64 first came out where Sega made fun of N64 for having so few games.  If someone can find this please post it.

It's too bad Sega could never back up all their claims by actually winning a generation.

For the record, i own all the Sega consoles.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

Sega is like a proud veteran that lost his legs on the war. Even today Sega would kick the other companies in the nuts if given the chance.

I thought everything about the Dreamcast was extremely well executed, it was the start of a resurgent Sega, it's just too bad that they were running out of money by then and couldn't continue fighting. I've always felt that it was the console that most deserved a far better future than it got.

 Hell yeah it did.....

Damn Sony :)

You can't forget the Game Gear Adds. Remember the kid playing gameboy, who whacks himself in the head with a dead squirrel so he can actually see colour?

Those were some truly awful (and clearly inafective) adds.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

hehe they make Sony adds look good.

Did Sega hire some 12 year old child to do their commercials.

At least their ads had a point... Unlike Sony's...

I gotta be honest these 2 commercials are pretty pathetic. I remember all the commercials i posted above, but I don't remember seeing these ones.

So the point was half the commercial showin the competition.

How could you not mention Segata Sanshiro?

That man was a god. This music video is as compilation of all the Sanshiro commercials. This was the Saturn's Japanese ad campaign.
