Is this the last good year for the xbox 360 ?

Yep, 360 owners aren't buying much software anymore. So the end is soon.

Well, I will make it easier...does false = true?

This gen's games still impress me with their innovation and graphical power. I don't see any of the consoles ending their run soon.

Ok... take a look at the softwares sale this week. For that point, Microsoft is doing extremely good. (!?!?!?!?) They beat Sony since a couple of month. Your argument don't stand !

come on seriously?

2012 at the earliest.

2011 at the earliest, and we haven't seen Gears of War 3 yet and other AAA titles. 360 still has *atleast* 2-3 good years left.

It's just that simple.

They said that this gen will be longer than last gen.

November 15, 2001 the original XBox was released

November 22, 2005 the 360 was released.

Just over four years of shelf life of the 360 would already eclipse the length of the original XBox shelf life. In 2006 there were only a few good XBox games released: Double Agent, Winning Eleven 9, Midnight Club Dub Edition, Lego Starwars 2, Mortal Kombat and Outrun imho and some of those games saw 360 versions. Microsoft was quick to kill the original XBox because they lost over five billion on it.

Now that the 360 is gaining them profit (which will hopefully be confirmed by their newest financial reports soon) I don't see them being in a rush to release the 720, so yeah the 360 should *atleast* have a 6 year life span.

Wow. This year it only took 22 days into the year for someone to predict the demise of the 360.

Least it's slightly better then the day 1 of 2009 prediction that the PS3 would dominate 09.

On topic: No. The 360 will continue on into at least 2011 as MS primary console. Why would MS be so stupid as to jump consoles when their current one just became profitable.

Ironially, the Wii's success and PS3's difficulties have afforded Microsoft some time.

The Wii is too successful for Nintendo to pull the plug now. It will easily coast for the next year, and may be able to do so without a price cut. The Wii almost certainly has added another 2 years, at least, to its intended lifespan. So even if Nintendo was intending to cut the Wii loose in 2010 (just 4 years instead of the usual 5), we probably won't see a true Wii2 until 2012 (though a WiiPlus of some sort may act as a stop gap).

Meanwhile in Sonyland, Sony desperately needs to make some green back on the PS3 before launching a PS4. As was they were not going to launch the PS4 until 2012 (PSX- 1994, PS2 - 2000, PS3 - 2006), but I'm sure they were planning on having made some money by now. With all their difficulties, the PS4 probably won't launch until 2013, even 2014.

So that gives MS until at least 2011 if it wants to beat Nintendo by a year, 2012 for Sony, and that's assuming they choose to go for an early launch again (which helped them "beat" Sony, but clearly did nothing to stop Nintendo).
