Too bad being pro-something is not as bad as anti-something

I think the PS3 is an ok system in terms of build quality when you compare it 2 da cringe worthy ps1 and ps2. Basically the hate is because people(myself included to some extent) have hated sony's reign on the video game market, and people don't like getting lied to, half-truthed and told what to do by an arrogant multi-national corporation. It's like watching a bully go down basically.

Personally, I don't HATE Sony, I just think SCE/SCEA is done, and should be killed to better allow Sony to refocus on consumer electronics. I am still a huge fan of Sony A/V components, and I think that's where they need to spend their time, resources, and money.

It's a *bit* selfish on my part, really... I just want OLED TVs (since SED is obviously never going to arrive), and Sony is leading in that arena. As a Sony fan, I'd like to see them stay well in the lead.

I've always liked Sony. They are pioneers of technology and their R&D is best in class. I own a PSX, PSone (smaller PS) with LCD screen,, PS2 (with HDD and internet adaptor), PS2 slim, PSP, TVs, MP3 player. Their products are great.

However, in this generation of consoles, they over did themselves. Videogame consoles are already impracticle devices and with the price of the PS3, it has become more impracticle. It's a great system, but right now, it doesn't offer much, not for that price.

Low Republican approval ratings coincided with elections of a Democratic Congress in 2006.

General dislike of Nintendo's direction with N64 and GC coincided with the dominance of PS1 and PS2.

General dislike of Sony's direction with PS3 is coinciding with Wii's emerging dominance.

The truth is, gaming has never supported the same direction for more than two generations (Atari 2600/5200 - NES/SNES - PS1-PS2- ?, GB-GBA, a GBA 2 would have been beaten by PSP, which is DS was designed to change the portable sector).

Since corporations don't ask people what they want, people vote with their money. If people truly want a product, they find a way to pay for it.

If I was to guess I would say reasonable people dislike currently Sony because of the price, E3 05 and the lack of games for the PS3.

Some idiots will hate them because:
1. some people just hate winners.
2. some people believe Sony caused Segas downfall.
3. they are blindingly loyal to the competition.

I don't hate Sony. I simply don't care about them. I am a long time videogame fan, started back in the Atari days, so it's difficult to me to accept a non-videogame company making videogames. I think Sony is a mostly fine electronic maker, though their tendency to force standards and formats is very irritating.
I currently own a Sony rear-projection XBR TV, and it has a problem with its projection block. Replaced once but the new one is also bad. In fact Sony is facing a class action lawsuit because of that, so, you see, they aren't that reliable either. How can a company release something that get bad after just a few weeks so easily?!
