Forums - Sales Discussion - question for Bodhesatva (or anyone else in retail)

it's not up to MS to advertise but to the retailers.... and you don't do a commercial on TV for a price drop.... it's not local car dealership people lol :)

Bodhesatva, will you continue your famous "I am a toys 'r us employee" thread again? I always enjoyed your updates!

me my question is: what is the kind of store that sails the most consoles ???? like EB games kind of store... wallmart kind of store, toys'r us kind of store etc....

In our area, Futureshop and Best Buy gets a higher unit allocation than EB/Gamestop Toys R Us or Wal-Mart

And no, the price drop doesn't change the situation in our store, we are still selling 2 360 per weeks, 2 PS3 per weeks and 6 or 8 Wii per weeks.

Umm how do you know? The price drop only happened on Tuesday..and your post was on Friday.

Also in percentage terms the $50 drop on the premium was 12.5%, $100 drop on the PS3 was 17%, so it's not a big difference as it seems.

I mean obviously you couldn't ask PS2 to drop $100 because that would almost be it's whole price. You cant just look at the total dollar amount...

They are not nearly as well informed of this price cut as they were the PS3 one. The PS3 one was shouted from the roof tops: we were given large signs to place in several sections of our video game department. Only one small one was given for the 360.

However, I CAN SAY that the price drop will definitely have an effect. I had two people come in just today looking for a system to play Madden on. When they found out that one was 150 dollars cheaper and actually had slightly better graphics, they seemed pretty set on the 360.
