Is that really shocking , I mean really ?

The eye toy has loads of untapped potential but it hasn't compared well to the Wii went it comes to application.

I just thought of an idea, what if they took the eye of judgement mechanics and turned it into an epic rpg, you dont collect cards i hate collecting cards, just a money sink. Instead you get given all the cards but you progress the game leveling your creatures or character whatever. Equipment also. Add an epic story.

If only that could happen... one can dream.

the futre of wiimote rests with motion+. i really think they should start bundling wii with wii sports resort instead of wii sports

i got the ps eye. i never use it. mainly because hardly any games that i like implement it.

same here.

On paper what he said may be true but in reality the wiimote works much better.Untill we can interact with menus as in Minortiy Report or something like that, the wiimote is more precise and the IR makes it even better.(sad it didn't have motion+ from launch)

The big problem comparing the Wiimote with the Eyetoy is development resources :P Ever person to develop on the Wii, and the ENTIRETY of Nintendo has focused on creating something that works with the Wiimote. Only a small group of employees at Sony, and a few other people... like... ever... have ever created something for the Eyetoy :P It's more of an add-on than part of the actual console.

Some version of the eyetoy might be included with every PS4, and in which case we'll have to see where the tech's gone :P But until then, the Wiimote just has so much more in terms of dev resources :)

From 0 to KICKASS in .stupid seconds.

Technologically, I believe indeed EyeToy is better than Wiimote. For instance, I always imagine myself playing boxing game with PSEYE, or soccer game or any other sports or fitness game with it.

It would be a way more natural than holding controller to do such. The only issue here is that Sony has released PS Eye over a year ago saying it can detect upto 120fps movement but only games that they have released so far involve minimal body movements.

Knowing the current trend of people like to move their body using video game, I must say it seems the most natural thing to do is to release fitness game using PS Eye. Like EyeToy Kinetic series except better, and advertise them. Say it's more exercise than Wiifit.

The eye toy is far more innovative than the wii mote, but is anyone buying it? No

I'll get it soonish.. however sony really needs to step up their game with this thing. There is hardly any use outside of a few niche games (which is the reason i've yet to get it)

If they really want you to get the eyetoy make some more advanced software for it. Imagine "GO Workout!" a answer to wii fit that tracks your whole body and can determan a bunch of data from your body. Tailoring a workout designed for you (you input your bmi based on some tests.. or it could even have a balance board of it's own) Could also implement and use aerobics because of the camera's tracking movements. Telling you if you were doing it right or wrong.

Or how about games like endwar ? that's the first i've heard of awesome use of the pseye (i don't even know if it actually got implemented in the final game) but they were talking about how they might implement navigation by moving your hands (you'd be able to move around on the map) and that's the stuff we need. A game that already uses voice commands, allow you to use your body to navigate. That completely negates the use for a controller at all.. and such games should be designed for the pseye.

I have no doubt that if they took it to the next level, many more people would get it and start taking it serious.

The Wiimote isn't just a motion capture device. It's also a pointer (mouse). A camera motion capture is not a good device for moving a cursor on the screen. The Wiimote is very good as a pointer, so good in fact it makes a game like RE4 seem too easy.
