Im quite new here but im guessing your the resident PS3 fanboy right?

Not quite sure how you can say the PS3 is "pwning" the 360 when in the past 4 months it has been last...If you take away the MGS4 element from PS3 your see its sales would be awful. The thing is since MGS4 was released the PS3 has actually suffered badly. With no games on the radar at the same level worldwide as MGS4 the PS3 was always going to struggle. The fact it has only outsold the 360 in 9 months (have not got oct npd yet) by 1.2m is not good. The 360 is 1 week away from being in it's 4th year on the market. And the PS3 is just about to enter it's 3rd. IF we have a repeat of last xmas which looks likely due to the ratio of software sales already then that lead will be wiped out. By the end of 2008 if things stay as they are the 360 will end it on a + ahead of the PS3 and not a -. If that happens then even the most biased fan such as yourself must admit Sony are out of there. The thing that is keeping PS3 in the mix is europe. But now even those numbers are on the slide with the UK firmly now 360 country.

DMeisterJ - Imagine how badly PS3 would be pwning it without the TWO 360 price cuts. I see they are still ahead by 1.2 mill, but will that carry them through 08?

I say that cause I expect the gap between the two to be bigger in 09.

Is it really good ? The difference isn't enough to catch up the install base and I'm still convince that the BR is saving SONY from death.

We will see...

PS3>360, nothing gonna stop PS3 now with better games, blu ray, and brand recognition.

The problem with this is that you obviously have no clue. If you actually bothered to see beyond your fanboy blue tinted glasses you would see that before the price cut and after the release of MGS4 360 and PS3 were running neck and neck pretty much.

July to before the price cut =

360 - 1.501m

PS3 - 1.611m

So the PS3 sold a whopping 100k more consoles worldwide in 3 months! That is some serious pwning!.....

Now lets look at it without the last 2 weeks of june (the release of MGS4)

Firstly in those 2 weeks the PS3 sold 700k units. The 360 sold 355k.

Now then lets look at the numbers from the 1st of January to before the price drop without those last 2 weeks of june for both consoles.

PS3 = 5.882m

360 = 5.101m

Meaning in 9 months worldwide the PS3 sold 700k more....Again hardly Pwning is it.

So then lets look at the effect of the price cut shall we!

Since the price cut the 360 has sold 1.8m units. The PS3 has sold 1.3m units. Meaning if we take that ratio of a 500k gap for every 5 weeks means by December 31st 2008 the 360 would have destroyed the PS3's whole year gain just like i said.

So as i also said if the PS3 does not have another MGS4 type game what will stimulate the sales? You said LBP, that didn't happen. Resistance 2? Doesn't look like it is happening? etc.. etc..

I am not a fanboy at all but i find it so funny people such as yourself spin the numbers to try and run damage control.

You can't use hypotheticals like with no MGS4(bundle) or no price cut. Because you don't know the intentions of people without these things happenning. I'm sure there were a lot of people who were planning on buying a PS3 but waited because they wanted the MGS4 bundle. And if there was no MGS4, they would have bought a PS3 anyways at a different time. Same can be said for the price cut with the 360. You don't know whether the bundles or price cuts made someone purchase the console or simply made them wait for the deal to purchase or even in some cases hurry up and buy the console sooner than they would.

You both are just wasting your time with those hypothetical arguments.
