Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Final Fantasy IV: GBA vs DS

I'm just starting out my New Game + play-through (now with two Onion Swords and five Adamant Armors), so I think the party will have a pretty good shot at just about anything.

Who will you end up giving Limit Break to? I know a lot of people give it to Kain, but I'm curious about whether or not it might work with Cecil and Rosa casting Ultima.

I gave Darkness to Kain, so I'll probably give it to him because of that. Rydia would also be a good choice, I think, as her Bahamut summon is incredibly powerful late in the game (and is non-elemental, I believe).

Yeah, I would think Darkness and Cry on Kain would make Limit Break very powerful - I mentioned Rosa and Cecil because Ultima is about four times (!) as powerful as Bahamut.

Four times, eh... well, if you have Fast Talker on Rydia as well, it might even out a bit. I'd hate to lose Rosa's support spells, and having Dualcast, Omnicasting and Piercing Magic all equipped doesn't leave much room for anything else.

It's an interesting thought, though. Would you have to have Limit Break on both characters, do you think?

I don't know! Since it's only possible to get two Limit Breaks, I'm actually afraid to try it out. I only just started my own New Game+, with the only rare item I carried over being a Red Tail.

Of course, Ultima is by no means guaranteed to pop out anyway, so Rydia with Bahamut is probably better if only by virtue of the fact that she's able to cast Bahamut very quickly and constantly.

Yeah, exactly... not having to give up two turns for otherwise useful characters to a slow-moving Twincast would probably be preferable anyway.

Actually they didn't rescale anything to the bosses. That is how hard the original Japanese version was. The DS version is the better version imo. Try both out for a little while and see which one you like better.

Not true, the DS version is harder than the Japanese original. I never died as much in the Japanese original as I did in the DS version. They ratchted up the difficult of the bosses and some of the enemies. The US original was a cake walk, the Japanese original required strategy, the DS remakes assumes you know the strategies from prior play throughs and is completely unforgiving. The Bosses deal out more damage, you will get one shotted a lot in the DS version of FFIV.

I heard they made the DS version really hard. So depends, what do u like more? Games that have a fair difficulty or better graphics.

SNES version of course.
