Forums - Sony Discussion - SOCOM: Confrontation 1UP review... MEGA OUCHHH

I agree completely with this review. I hated all the bugs that occurred the first time I tried to play it. Hell, every person I know who has gotten it has had the same exact glitch. I also found the scope accuracy awkward unless you are not situated behind cover.

The game itself is fun aside from those two issues though, and I hope they fix them.

Well they say they will re-review the game once the patches are in because the problems are mainly the servers ....no big deal.

Others mags as IGN have stated they wont review the game until the servers and patchs are up and running.

From what I have heard, when u actually log in, the game is a blast. It's funny cuz my friend claims that he logs in right away, and I didn't believe him, so I went to his house today, and BAM, he is able to play right away, no 30 min wait to join. Anyways, this is a fair review, especially the part where it says that when the servers are fixed, the score will change. I read another review where they said that it will review the game only, not the servers, and that was pretty cool too. Anyways, I'm hoping to pick this up (was going to pick it up today actually) but I'll wait for the patch to go out.

The reviews aren't out because the servers are broken and it's an online-only game. I'm guessing a lot of reviewers are waiting a week or so for the problem to be fixed before sending a review forward. This should explain your bolded comments.

Well thats probably killed a lot of the sales then. Games, especially hardcore games are made/broken on the first week.

actually... there have been numerous reports of sell outs in many locations and stores... (If you can do that with 360 shortages I can do this with launching of a game)

Also there has been very little advertisment for this game. Actually... there has been no advertising. Not much of a "Big Ps3 exclusive"

Also this is SOCOM: Confrontation. It is not SOCOM 4. If I have my facts correct SOCOM 4 is being developed. This game was never suppose to be as big as other SOCOMs. And you have this nifty website where you can look up how big the previous games were... here  it is. www.vgchartz.com. (1.55 mil for the last SOCOM)

Also "yeah lets review a game before we even play it! THAT SOUNDS SO CREDIBLE FO OUR WEBSITE THAT IS ABOUT REVIEWING GAMES!!!!" that doesn't sound like a very good website.

@ Mature. I hope it sells well Im looking for the weekly sales chartz in anticipation for big sales on all my favourite genres.

Tease.

nice troll job. You havent even seen sales yet...

Squilliam - don't expect much for this game. 750k lifetime will be a hit for an online only SOCOM.

anything around those numbers will be a success.

That wasn't trolling...  These games all had very high expectations and the reviews are showing they are not living up to those expectations from a review point of view.

All of them had and in Socom's case will have decent sales.  But their total lifetime sales will be hindered because of the reviews.  I feel all of these games had potential to be million sellers.  It is suspect whether any of them will reach the million level given the low reviews.

^ Holy crap I just thought it was one review you were saying this about. I just looked at metacritic.
