geez atleast know something before posting. SONY has now planned to remove the GRAPHICS SYNTHESIZER chip ( 75$ cost) and do BC with softwares ..............thts good news by the way. not only that CELL has been shrunk to 65 nm and would probably run at 3.2 ghz in the new ps3>>>>>>>>>> too bad i own an old one .......but still i am happy

you mean it's good news cuz it's saving money for sony? great.... but it's still going to be 600€, same price for less... and even if it means a price cut in a few months, do you really think it is an incentive to buy the PS3 when it comes out in march? People are going to hold their purchase till then, or at least till they release the names of the games that are BC... btw, the decision to release this list on the first day probably means that they have a very very very bad BC and don't want to deter potential buyers from buying on day one.... not good news, again...

ps3 would become fully BC over time . besides that removing the GS saves alot of energy as well. i envy the Europeans whose ps3s would feature the 65 nm chip and run at 3.2 ghz

It does not run at 6Ghz they will still run at 3.2Ghz(which saves electricity). The newer chips only max out at 6Ghz which means in other devices(TV's, Blu-ray/HD-DVD players, supercomputers). benoit no matter if they got all the games except a few hundred you would still think it is very bad. They would not remove the chips unless they had most of the BC done already.

i guess we'll see that soon....

It's definitly bad news, it's clearly designed to save money, which would have been fine prior to all launches but now it just sounds like Europe is getting screwed. As for it becoming compatible with more over time, that stinks, right now is when you want the compatiblity, when the ps3 has few games and your relying on a collection of ps2 games, later on most people will have moved on to the ps3 titles. As for this new system being better, that's just Sony hype to actually make you think taking something away from the system is better for you. Do you really think they'd have some ps3s run faster then others? Like a new game comes out and reviews say it's a 7.5 on the old ps3s because it's choppy and can't handle running 30fps but it's a 8.0 on the new ps3s because it runs smooth. No, they'll make sure you don't know the difference between systems so even if it was better it'd be worthless.

ridge racer ran at 1080p at 60fps...............a feat which x360 would never be able to acheive according to NAMCO. The framerate dips were due to improper coding. Dont forget the CELL is a minimum of 20x as powerful as XENON + any other pc cores. dont argue here is the link http://www.vgcharts.org/forum/thread.php?id=444&start=0#end http://www.pro-g.co.uk/news/30-10-2006-3931.html rr7 cannot be produced for x360. LAIR, ff13, DMC 4, MGS4 (full fledged) cannot be produced for x360.

washimul, if your going to troll then atleast be a little bit subtle so you don't give yourself away so easily. Although that 6ghz part was hysterical, but it's just too over the top and people will know your posting just to piss them off

"Why do they call it the xbox 360? Because when you see it, you'll turn 360 degrees and walk away"
