Forums - Gaming Discussion - tales of 7 defective x360s

mrstickball said: Every system has had complaints from purchasers that they've died. Yes, the 360 has a few more complaints, but it's also sold 2x the # of systems. I hate everyone that rags on the 360s. MS extended the warranty to 1 year, and is replacing launch units for free. That's pretty dang good. Atleast MS didn't make about 3 million Wii Straps defunctional. I sincerely doubt that IdolM@ster takes up 80% of the processing power. Epic (devs of GoW) said that GoW barely scratched the surface of what the 360 can do. If the PS3 is so much superior to the 360, how come devs constantly say they are both neck and neck, expecially when they are developing the same game for both systems? Just for note, I own a LAUNCH 360. Purchased 11/22/2005 at 7am. I have played over 80 games on it, with a gamerscore of 28k (not very high but enough to prove I've played for quite some time). I have totaled atleast 2,000 hours of gaming on my machine. I have never sent mine in for repairs. I have never had rings of death (unless I had the S-video cables unplugged, or something stupid). My 360 has frozen up about a dozen times in the past YEAR and two months. Mostly from Oblivion (which I've put no less than 1000 hours on, if not more) People keep dogging the 360, but here are the facts: It has the best library of any system ever made this far into it's lifecycle. I've been playing games and have owned consoles for the past 15 years from every major H/W maker. Never have I seen a system with such great games. You can bash it's sales all you want, but when it's software has consistently outsold every other system, and has had the highest tier ratio of all next gen systems (launched at a tier ratio of 3, versus Wii's 2.1 even w/ the free game, and PS3 at a wonky 1.5). Zelda TP is great, Resistance is fine, but by November 2006, the 360 has had a far superior library, and will continue to have improved library titles, even better than either compeditior. And once it drops its price $100, and introduces a IPTV deal with AT&T, even VG charts bashers won't be able to handle the 360s succuess (even if its just in the US)
LOL! You are really funny, you know that? Thanks for the laugh.

If you were joking, it wasn't even funny. If you were not ...

Some systems before it sold at least twice as much and had far fewer complaints.

This one is the most laughable. 1 year warranty is "pretty dang good" ? The crap that MS fanboys can put up with amazes me every day. FYI, 1 year warranty is normal, 2 years warranty is "pretty darn good". But 6 months warranty is crap.

That's what I call a hardcore gamer. I could never do that. Let me see, 2000 - 1000 = 1000. 1000 / 79 ~ 13. So you've put on average, 13 hours play on every one of your other 79 games ? A hardcore gamer can do that, but I would never put so much money in each game, to play them just 13 hours. If a game lasts only 13 hours for me, I'd rather sell it and swallow the money I lost.

This one has to be one of the most laughable statement.

That just shows that you can't learn anything, or have a very poor memory. In japan, where they're far more knowledgeable than you about console and console games, they seem to know better. They seem to have better memory too (then again, that's not the first time I see MS fanboys having selective memory problems), as even me, who is not a hardcore gamer, see clearly that the XB360 has no such great games. Unless you equate console games to shooters. They have a far better "image culture" too, just like I have, which makes them far less overwhelmed by supposedly "great graphics".

You're part of the "the bigger the better" crowd, aren't you ? In my case, the XB360 library is the inferior one. I'm lucky actually, as it makes the choice far simpler. I love JRPG, so the XB360 is out already. I saw "Enchanted Arms" is crap right from the start of the long video of gaming session that was on the net. I was bored right away, and couldn't stand it for more than 10 minutes. This thing is everything that you can do bad in a RPG (reminded me of Legend of Dragoon, one of my worst RPG experience). Only Blue Dragon could have interest to me, but I don't buy a console for 1 game. Zelda TP is not even a great game for me.

More power to XB360 if they drop the price $100. It woudl still be $300 for the interesting system, and that's a lot of money for such an unreliable console. I like to think that the console I bought has most chances to last 5 years at the very least. This is another bad trend launched with the PS1 : making consoles that are so unreliable they won't work correctly after a few years.

Actually, I own about 5 games. The other 75-ish were rented via gamerspasses from blockbuster. In all i've spent very little on the games.

If your gonig to laugh at me, you might as well post exactly which system, in the US, by 1 year and 3 months had a better library of games. I'm not talking about "game X was better than 360's game Y", but in general over the huge library of games for any respective system.

Funny. Just because Japaneese gamers reject the 360 due to its poor lineup of Japaneese games, that means their knowledge about video games is better? They've rejected everything but Nintendo, and their most popular games are games like nintendogs, brain training, pokemon and tamogotchi. Now, if you pefer owning a whole collection of games like that, feel free. But I prefer more mature games, regardless of system.

So your one of those "I never played the game, but it sucks" crowd, eh? Try EM, it's fun. Is it FFXII? Of course not, but it's enjoyable.

I would agree that MS still needs to imrpove on a supposed flawed design (ie, whatever makes them defective). However, in my experience, and the friends I know that own 360s, and I believe mine is certainly tested quite a bit, that 360s aren't as poor as people make them out to be. Again, people can always post articles about how some guy on the internet broke 5 PS2s, 10 360s, or 3 PS3s, or anything else, but then there are people like myself that have tons of gaming in on the console without problems. You can't say a system is a POS when you don't own one yourself. I own one, I know how fun they are. Thats why I've played 80+ games. Can the 360 improve? Absolutely. There's still a lack of J-RPGs. However, with Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Eternal Sonata, Mass Effect, Circle of Doom, Two Worlds, Culdicept Saga and (although you cant consider it an RPG) Fable 2 coming out this year (maybe not Fable 2), it's enough to keep me enthused. Again, if you think there was a better system 1 year and 3 months into it's lifespan IN THE US, name it.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
