RE5 will definitly be over M just by looking at the trailer (has it been rated?), I don't think FF will ever be a M as the genre doesn't has never been about blood and guts.

That wasn't my point. "AAA" implies they have been reviewed.

Ah erm, sorry no response there, I totally missed your point :(

I find it funny that "mature" content are games with good doses of combat with a lean towards gritty gfx. If mature means "older" then don't games in teh 30-40 range mean mature. So this would mean games like Tetris, Bejeweled, N+, Line Rider are "mature" games.

I think it fair to say it's not mature games that the Wii is lacking, but games with vesceral violence portrayed somewhat realisticly. This is mature in nature. This is child-teen mentality loves the flash of violence that they can't experience in real life(thank fully).

Anyways yes I agree I do miss having my blood games on the Wii. I really like Godfather Black Hand and would love to see more games like it.It's not a terminal case, but unless someone comes forward and makes a DMC killer we won't see any shift. It's just that the current bloody games Wii get seem more niche or ports.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

M rating and above games.

Just one problem: most of these games are not in fact mature: they present their content in the least mature possible light. They do this because craving this content for its own sake is not a mature response to it: the only real market for these games can't actually handle the content, because mature people find it repulsive. The M rating has become nothing more than a marketing term, and needs to be changed to a word with more negative connotations.

The term is not going to go away because the two groups who use it (the developers and the target audience) both have a vested interest in continuing to call these games mature.

^ not to mention the ESRB which was the OPs point. Its not about the semantics of the term its about the ESRB Rating. He is saying will wii continue to have very few "M" rated games, where there are several on PS360.

@Commando: Actually we have to argue the semantics to get the real picture.

@Topic: I checked out the number of titles, with high age ratings on each console and this is what i found:
360:
50 games with 18+ rating.
92 games with 16+ rating.
PS3:
41 games with 18+ rating.
49 games with 16+ rating.
Wii:
7 games with 18+ rating.
28 games with 16+ rating.

I must say that i never thought the situation would be that bad. No wonder PS3 and 360 are lagging behind in sales so badly.

With the exception of Resident Evil 5, the Wii really is the best console for Zombie killing.

thats one mother of an exception though

True, but it won't seem so bad when We find out what new RE game Capcom has instore for the Wii (yes, this is just my prediction and YES, it will either be an RE2 Remake or Umbrella Chronicles 2).

and House of the Dead 4! HOUSE OF THE DEAD 4!

I feel like being anal about this. House of the Dead Overkill is not House of the Dead 4. It's either House of the Dead Zero(in relation to when the story happens) or it's House of the Dead 5 in relation to the fact that it's being made after 4. None of this goes against the amount of awesome this game will have though.

In regards to the subject, if it's true that the Wii has less M rated games, then it most likely is because of Nintendo. Publishers tend to follow them and basically play follow the leader. Nintendo releases Wii Sports and the copy cats follow. Repeat for Wii Play. Look at FPS controls in third party efforts before and after Metroid Prime 3. If Nintendo makes an M rated game that sells well, the third parties will follow. Until then, they will lag behind.

My apologies, I thought there were only 3 house of the dead games.

In that case, it's house of the dead 5.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

4 never made it out of the arcades. Graphically, it's in HD and would fit best on an HD console. It was once rumored to be going to the 360 long ago. However the controls obviously point towards a Wii port, which is very possible. SEGA even made comments that they would port it over if House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return sold well, but it looks like they decided to make an original game instead. Or maybe 4 is coming also(fingers crossed).

Not that you or anybody would probably care much about the storyline of the game but here's the order each game places:

HotD: Overkill
HotD
HotD 2
HotD 4
HotD 3
